I just bought a SLX MGL with the slx rod.  What are the best baits to use on this combo?  Everyone website has a different opinion on what to use on a medium power rod.

Light jigs and Texas Rigged soft plastic.  You can also throw heavier soft plastic baits weightless > senkos, beavers, etc. 

Medium Xtra Fast is a good topwater/jerkbait setup. I use a similar setups for spooks, poppers, and jerkbaits with a bread and butter SLX, actually. 

Very versatile setup. You can throw most anything with that. It’s really only smaller faster moving things that you might want a softer rod for. 

That rod is fairly stout for a M rating. I use mine for light jigs t-rigs and senkos mostly. 

I have a senko tied on mine 99% of the time. Light T-rigs and topwater are also good options. Small chatterbaits, light spinnerbaits, underspins, finesse jigs, I've thrown traps on it as well. It's a versatile rod, but as stated it is fairly stout for a Medium, and noticeably stouter than the 6'10" version IMO.
