When fishing a plastic worm, I grew up throwing only a Texas rig. I never used a shaky head. But I want to learn. What’s the best rod for this technique? Any advice on what plastics to throw on a shaky head and how or when to fish it? Thanks! 

I use 3/16 oz heads on a 7' M F spinning rod. I usually use 7" power worms or baby brush hogs. I have tried "drop shot" worms with not much success. 

3/32 and 3/16 shakey heads on a 7' M/F spinning rig. Baby Brush Hog, 4" Chigger Craw or Zoom Finesse Worms on the lighter head; Brush Hog, Missile D'Stroyer, 6" Zoom Lizard or Zoom Trick Worm on the heavier.

you can fish just about anything on a shakeyhead but it is usually a finesse technique. for me 3/32 1/8 and 3/16 heads. i like a worm that stands up at rest. grande bass air tail wiggler reins bubbling shaker are a couple favorites. roboworms are good too. 7ft medium spinning rod 15lb braid 8 pound fluoro leader.

Spot remover jig, 3/16 or 1/4 with a zoom trick worm. I like a ML casting rod. Let it sink then jiggle it a little and wait. I keep one ready all year long, works in the shallows and deep.

I've had good luck with Owner screwlock heads, and SK standard style. I lean to 1/8, 3/16, and occasionally 3/8 sizes.

I throw a 6th Sense Divine Shakey because it has a bigger hook. The 3/8 oz has a 6/0 hook that fits a Double Z Magnum T-Worm quite well.

It is probably the thing that I fish the most.  I use a variety of heads and hook sizes depending on the water depth and how much cover and structure there is to hang me up and break me off.  

 

 I may be using a 2/0 hook in one place and a 5/0 in another on the same bank depending on what is down there.

 

 I’ve tried a bunch of things but for the past few years there are 2 constants:  a seven and a half foot rod and an Elaztech worm.

A guy named jig man throws worms the most ?? Ha, just messin. I also throw shakey heads the most 

Yep maybe I should be called wormy now.  A few years ago I got my butt handed to me from the back of my boat in one of my spots on two different occasions by the same guy who was using shaky.  The count got to 7 to 0 on the first day before I got to begging.  After the second day I went to the bait store.  Now I am equipped.

Try dead sticking it around docks and submerged cover. Most my fish are caught while the bait sits still with a little wiggle of the rod tip. Zoom trick worms are cheap and durable, I've also had good luck with the net bait T Mac. I prefer good FC like sunline.
