Different wake baits

Featured Replies

is there a difference at all from a rat wake bait from lets say a ms slammer wake bait?

Oh yes!!!!  Different wiggles, different speeds,   Different sounds, different water displacement.   I love fishing big wake baits.

You find it matters to the fish?

No clue but I fish a lot of wake baits. The jointed ones I have, 6th sense speed wake, lucky craft and Mikey, look like swim baits in the water. Lots of action but not wild. The 6th sense movement slams side to side. The KVD wake and Berkley bull wake are kind of in between. At least for me

I like Manns “minus-1” or Bass Pro’s “the egg”.

Both have worked pretty good for me,

The egg is cheaper and more colors

I do. Sometimes they want one over the other! Like a 9 inch slammer over a psycho gill or a toxic wake and crank over a gas rat!

I kill the fish with a Slammer, can't hardly get bit with a rat ?‍♂️ I caught my swimbait PB on a Slammer so I have a soft spot for them.

Bull Shad Wake is a solid bait also for a better fish profile.

I love Wake bait fishing especially at night . For whatever reason I have had minimal success on Rat style baits I've done well on the Bull Shad Wake bait, 3:16 Wake Jr & Baby Wake, Evergreen ND 180 and the classic MS Slammer. As far as crank bait style wake baits my all time favorite is a discontinued Excalibur Wake bait with a loud ass rattle , that bait would get punished under the right conditions especially fishing over thick grass.
