If you are the top seller of a product, it's great advertising to let everyone know.  The latest crest commercial brags that they are the best sellung toothpaste.  Ford makes sure everyone knows the f150 is the best selling truck in America.  Why don't tackle manufacturers do this?  

The top sellers probably do but they're probably not who you think.

 

I don't know if they're still doing it but I've seen Zebco mention in adds that they were the top selling brand of reels.

Yeah I doubt anyone is getting close to Shakespeare or Zebco's numbers.

Well, a little digging

Rapala/VMC - 2020 sales $261m - public company, traded on NASDAQ

Pure Fishing - 2019 sales $500m - private company.

Oh - an addendum

 

As of last February - Pure Fishing's owners now hold almost 20% of Rapala/VMC's stock.

 

"According to a stock exchange release from Rapala, US-based Sycamore purchased 7.5 million shares, which represents 19.23% of total shares and voting rights."

Combined sales of Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra are higher than Ford, lol.  

If they needed to have a huge marketing campaign they would.
