Boat Seat Vinyl Repair

Featured Replies

Had an awesome deal on a 90’s Skeeter fall in to my lap and getting ready to start the process of moving over all my stuff from my old boat to it.

The Skeeter seats are in great shape besides a couple small tears. Anyone ever use one of those vinyl repair kits?  Good? Bad?  Recommendations?

Go online and look for Skeeter replacement seats for your boat.

Go to a local auto/boat upholsterer and see what they say, although brand new ones would be nice.

I've had good luck with vinyl repair kits in that they fix the tear in the vinyl, and it doesn't come back.  It's virtually impossible to match the color or texture, so it's going to look like it was repaired.  Also, if the vinyl is old and it cracked from exposure/use (in other words if these are the original seats), then it's probably best to replace them (or have them professionally recovered), as new cracks are bound to keep popping up.  30 years was a good run for outdoor, vinyl seats.

I agree.  If they've lasted that long with minor issues, that's exceptional.

I would like to add that I use Boat Bling's Vinyl Sauce on my seats in the boat.  Its very similar to their other products like Hot Sauce and Toon Sauce, except that its specifically designed for vinyl boat seats.  Its so simple to use too.  Spray on, wipe off.  Adds a nice protective layer to them and removes any stains or water spots.

I really have no inclination to replace the seats. Phenomenal shape pretty much like new minus the few tears, just really trying to prevent them from worsening.

If you just want to stop the vinyl from tearing, I’ve used Krazy Glue in the seam to do this with good success.
