Need a replacement ML spinning rod

Featured Replies

Broke my ML St Croix Premier yesterday and need a replacement. Before I go looking for another of the same I thought I'd ask for suggestions.

All my rods are Premiers, all are general purpose, haven't tried anything else for longer then I can remember. Would want a 6'6"-7', Fast, 1 pc, general purpose in the sub $200 range.

St. Croix Avid X Series Spinning Rod

This is a decent stick.

Fished it last season and like it quite a bit.

And it's on sale !

How old was the Premier? I think they have a 5 year warranty don't they?

The new St. Croix Bass X rods are really nice and well below your price range. There's a 6' 10" ML in that line up.

Daiwa Tatula Elite 7' ML. amazing rod for all of your more finesse needs

I really like the dobyns Champion XPs and thats exactly the length and power you looking for. Thats a unique rod that will serve you years, On top of that warranties are awesome on them.

I don’t know about the length of the warranty or whether it would be honored, but I’d give them a call to see if the would or offer a discount on a new rod. After all, what’s the worst the could say, “no”. Right?

Good luck @padlin with your search, lots of excellent rods and options out there

Talked to SC, the rod is 20 years old, they will replace it for $70 after I send in some pictures. So $70 for a $160 rod, of course it was $120 when I got it. Thanks all for the ideas, not crazy about the new straight grip but this is the route I'm going.

I have been super impressed with my Daiwa Rebellion Bass Spinning Rod 7' Med Lt, it super balanced, super light and super sensitive. It's a serious contender in the ML spinning world.
