How big is this bass?

I know it was taken from far off, but how big do you think this bass is? I’d say I was about 50 yards away uphill from the creek. My guess is 6-7 lbs. It looked pretty good!

Impossible to judge without something to estimate length!

Tom

The formula, according to the Harvard School Of Fishing:

If we take our initial guessed weight and remove 25 - 35% we'll always be in the ball park. Increase that to 50% if it's underwater.

Or what Tom said :)

Did you try and catch it?

Was it on a bed?

6.721lbs

No, and no.

In all honesty, this creek/stream is located on the corporate headquarters of the company I work for in Texas. I have no idea if one can fish there or not, and wasn’t even aware of it until yesterday (I live in Texas but not here). I saw all kinds of bass swimming around but this one was substantially larger than the others I saw in maybe 5 minutes of looking. The water is rather shallow and has a lot of algae but also some clear spots with lily pads. It looks very fishable, which likely means no fishing lol.

Try to get permission to fish off hours.

That I am going to do for sure.

I think it’s the same size as the raft of algae to it’s direct left ;)

Boy that could be the spot.
Don’t tell anyone, my secret spot was a small pond. Someone cleaned it out, absolutely decimated. It was so sad

Our River Otters are experts at doing that.

I bet they are.

January ..............2 adult are living great in a boat ramp area with open water fed by a spring. They take turns running down fish constantly. After about 5 fish each in 15 minutes, I left.

Let us know how that works out!

Hopefully you can get permission. The place I worked for close to 14 yrs had a small pond out front the was supposed to have fish in it. After being there 10 yrs I finally gave it a shot and it didnt disappoint. Needless to say,I was out there at lunch on most days. Our VP was fine with us fishing it and even asked how we could get rid of duckweed that came back every year.
