Spinnerbait his producing well for me recently. 20 inch, 5 lb 4 oz. on white chartreuse SBait this morning. 

• I used to catch a BUNCH of bass on spinnerbaits.  I hardly throw one anymore.  Pretty much EVERYONE I see fishing around here in throwing a spinner bait.  I figure I'll do something different.

The nice thing about spinnerbaits though is you can always do little things to tweak them to make them look just a little bit unique. Different blade colors, blade combinations, skirt colors, trailers, etc. 

 

I often don’t get too crazy about it. Just little changes. This is a good spinnerbait for me right now. A covert that I changed the main blade on. 

This is a much more productive lure For me than a spinnerbait don’t know why but I’ve always done much better with these 

There have been several comments about colors and blades making a difference.  For those dedicated SB guys how long do you stay with one that isn't producing before making a change?  When you do change is it a small tweak or a bigger change, like Colorado blades to willow?

I think people do this differently but for me, I select a spinnerbait that I think will work based on conditions and then I will ride or die with that spinnerbait until conditions change or until I decide to throw a different lure. I’ve tried spending time fiddling around with blade combinations while on the water and it has been unproductive for me. I pick one, and then I convince myself it is the best I could be throwing.

Same here.

If they've been consistent producers in the past, they get thrown.

I may opt for a little less flash at times but don't fiddle much with my spinners.

 This is the #1 reason I feel like the CB's I make are better than any commercial bait I've ever tried. I use the turbo blades from Barlows and they're connected direct to the eye of the jig. They start instantly with a slow half turn of the handle. Crawling them slowly around the rocks at night is one of my favorite ways to catch 'em. It gets big bites, and produced my PB smallie. They rarely hang, and when they do, they'll usually pop free. I lose very few. I don't know of another bait that comes through rock as well. A football jig doesn't even come close. I also like my blades powder coated.

 To get back on topic, I've been doing really well as of late with the Zman Slingblade in both tandem and double willow. The Goat Grub rigged flat is a freakin awesome trailer.
