Bass fishing

Featured Replies

I discovered a private lake (that is technically public) that has some very large bass, and i want some advice on how to guarantee a good outing. I was thinking of catching bluegill and live lining them, but i have no experience doing this before. Recently, i have had luck bass fishing on a weighted texas rig, is there any other method that works well? Any weather conditions i should plan around? Time of day i have noticed also matters, so if not sunrise what is the best time to fish? Any advice would be appreciated

How is it 'technically' public. My experience, a lake is either private or public...can't be both.

Fish naked. It works.

Especially if you are a good looking woman. You'll catch something, but it might not be a bass.

Before I caught anything out of that lake, my first step would be to determine the legality of it, is it private or public? Can't be both technicality or not. If private, either abandon the chase, or obtain WRITTEN permission to fish it, if public, see above article about catching fish and knock them dead.

"I feel like like my truth tells me that just because it's owned by someone else, we are entitled to fish there because one time in band camp..."

Disappointing. I was expecting more Pearl Jam.

I think he came here for real advice. It's up to him to figure out if it's legal, including using live bait. A lot of people think my Dad's lake is private but it isn't. There's just one public launch.

Ya a T-rig would probably be good, as well as a good ol' Wacky Rig. But that's generic advice. It'd be helpful to have more info about the lake or pond.

Very helpful thread. I'm sure he'll come back for more advice any day now.

There's plenty of reading that can be done in the forum and on the home page. We literally have no idea what his current skill set is or what equipment he is using or anything. We could make a million suggestions but that might not help him at all.

But to the OP, here is my first tip. There is no "guarantee" to a good outing.

Keep reading and you will learn a lot from this site.
