do you think one of those throwable floatation devices is too stiff to be a seat cushion?

my Costco Seat cushion bought the farm.  the sun destroyed it.  it started melting the cover and everything that touched it turned stained and greasy.  my shorts looked like I pooped myself.  I tossed it.

thinking of a floatation device.  it could do double duty as something I can throw to a person overboard.

I might go to West Marine for lunch to check it out.  what do you think?  this is for my Kayak seat.  my Hobie seat is like a trampoline.

HMMMM.. EDIT.  might be too big.  my seat is only 12" front to back.

If you don't have to have a throwable in the boat then I'd choose something else.  If its just for a kayak seat, there are a bunch of aftermarket options available.

I have several, the green 1" ish foam goes flat after a bit, which was not the case when I was younger and lighter. The 1.5 or 2" was too high and made me feel tippy (canoe). The maybe 1.5 memory foam was better but still after 3 or 4 hrs my butt got soar. A 2" Purple Royal cushion is the best I've used, it's my go to. Don't know how the cover would do if it got wet.

I'm 215 lbs if it matters.

I've used throwables, memory foam cushion, stadium cushion and others.  Few want to hear it, but Kayak Kushion is easily the best option.

very little info on that thing.  like dimensions.  how thick is it?  i like gaining a tiny bit of elevation to help my oldass get up onto my feet.

i bought the stadium seat pad from Dicks Sporting goods.  ideal?  nope.  but with a couple of poked holes and zipties it is staying put.  haha.  it is too stiff.  and kinda heavy for what it is.  like a rubber mat.

I'd get a Rogue tether for that.  KK is not thick at all....maybe an inch?  Has a removable zippered cover that isn't waterproof,  but does dry very quickly.  I can take/post photo later.   I don't know what the padding material is, but it helps my rear much better than anything else I've tried.

Look at hunting seat cushions. There are tons of them. Some are L shaped with a foam seat and back rest.

I'd recommend something breathable like the rest of your seat probably is. Or a taller seat if possible. They make risers for mine.

I use to use one but it kept sliding down. I eventually found just the right set up for my Hobie seat and I haven't gone back.  I still keep it with me just in case.
