I always support my local tackle shops. Bobsands, Fishin fools , Tackle shack USA. These guys are like 15mins away from me. Also like chatting with them. Great buddies!!

 

Ray's Bait & Tackle was located in the next town. He had previously worked at another tackle shop which closed down, so he opened his own. He started small and expanded, and his mother Marge eventually spent the most time there when Ray found a more lucrative full time job. I still have loads of stuff I bought there. You all know how diverse fishing tackle is so I asked Marge how she knew what she had and where it was. She pointed to her head.

 

Eventually they closed when many customers started going to big box tackle shops. She told me she herself went to Dicks to check up and found some of her former regulars.

 

 Marge had a going out of business sale and I bought what I could. I left trying not to tear up, no joke.

 

Marge passed away and the store is back to being part of the residence as far as I know.

 

There is one more around the corner where I live but it's primarily for live bait with a little tackle.

They have a larger selection of Zoom than Academy or Dicks or Bowie Outfitters. A decent selection of Falcon rods & Lew's combos. Good selections of everything else including saltwater.

I live on the coast, my back yard is the ocean.  We have a few bait shops locally. I live next to one.  That’s where I buy my leaders, line, hooks, not much for freshwater. They have a few. One shop 20 min away does stock a bunch of bass gear from high end swimbaits to regular bass tackle, local bait makers. Awesome shop!
