I think my issue with multi tools is my background in the trades. I have a ton of tools for specific applications. I never really used "universal" tools

I own that one too, never go fishing without it! I used to have a Gerber multi-tool that I liked a lot. Carried it so long the nylon pauch wore out. I have it to my son in law and started carrying the Leatherman.

I did spend a little time working in trades and the only universal tools I know of are a hammer and a multi tester.

Btw, I discovered I am a collector of skate tools. I have over 20 of them. They do three things sort of well. I like them all. They don't do anything for anything else.

I've been gifted a couple and always try to use them....but despise them completely.  Too much non-useable stuff on them and the tools you do need are big compromises when you do.  Gave them away.

I have a knockoff SAK as my keychain. It’s the 30 tool model, and like everyone else has said, I rarely use it, but it’s invaluable for those rare occasions. It’s also a quick lesson for anyone to never ask me to toss my keys to them.

The plier based Leatherman gets taken on  fishing trips. I have skinned and cleaned catfish with it right on the river bank .I am constantly touching up hooks with the diamond file .  I carry a SAK all the time . It gets employed several times a day . The most used tool   is the toothpick .

When I'm on the water, I'm a big fan of my leatherman surge. Only downside is it is a little heavy. It's pretty well thought through, including having a file and being able to get to the blades without opening it up.
