Suspendots vs Lead Tape

Featured Replies

I’m trying to play with the buoyancy of some of my jerkbaits, so for anyone who’s had experience in this, which did you think worked better?

I use dots & strips.

Both work well.

I usually just shoot for horizontal balance and near neutral suspension when weighting most times with just a few exceptions. If a bass is looking for a particular heads up/down alignment in order to bite, its intelligence is stronger than my patience  ?

I'm in the same group as these guys. However, depending on the level of suspension before weighting, adding heavier split rings/hooks, or both will get the desired result. With regards to attitude of the final product, I also go for a horizontal rest.

Used to use dots and strips but have since moved to lead wire on the hook shank. It's much quicker and easier to adjust.

As PapaJoe above, I play with split rings more often than sticky back lead.  The weight you add when its cold you often need to remove as the water warms.

i tried opening up a split shot and clamping it onto the front o-ring and it was way too heavy.  i think a MegaBass engineer shed a tear when i did it.  i almost lost it to a snag.  haha.
