Just bought Shimano XHvy Fast 7'11" rod for punching.  This Daiwa reel caught my attention.  Anyone have it?  Like it?  Hate it?  Disdain it?  

I have It and it’s a good reel.

I've got one.  I don't really know how to pitch/flip very well yet, but I enjoy the reel.  Threw some jigs and did some frogging with it this season, with 50# braid.  No issues at all.  Only minor thing is the spool tensioner knob is very awkward to get at.

Thanks.  Guessing with a slimmed down task specific reel, this is part of the price of admission?  I feel awkward with most aspects of a low-profile reel.

Yes.  

They are bullet proof and well made. I paired mine with the Steez AGS 7’4 for frogging and punching. Never felt low on torque. 
 

As a heads up, if you want to step into a better reel for marginally more cash the 21 Zillion HD is the big brother to the elite. It’s JDM only right now but it looks stellar and the reviews have been fantastic. 

i was playing with one at the store yesterday.  the handles are awesome.  they felt confidence inspiring.  

I wouldn't pay full price for one.  Too close to zillion money.

Awesome sounding reel !!  Only 7 oz.  The MagZ Boost could make a significant difference sitting in a kayak.  Actually there's a 22 model now.  "Marginally," yet a little more than the 21.  I'll see what happens when I do damage to a shot or two of Mezcal (regarding ignoring budget). They're both amazing.  The 22 has a little more spool capacity.

Looks like you're right.  JDM misleading at times.  Only found one source for the actual dimensions of the reel.  What with comparing conversions and stuff...  I finally found two sites with the same winding statistics for both models.  The upgrade seems like a total no-brainer.  Thank YOU !  

mmmm.. i'm more partial to Tequila but i can get behind good fishing gear sober.

 

the Zillion 21 has a SV spool right?  the Tatula Flip/pitch doesnt?  asking for a friend.  super handsome and nice guy.  you all would like him.

Off-subject: I had (notice past tense) a bottle of Mezcal "con guzano" in my cabinet for years, thinking, I'm NOT drinking that stuff.  But being flat out of anything else interesting at one point, finally I did.  I'll probably never buy another bottle of Tequila. Earthy.
