So I recently purchased a chronarch G and I had a chance to play around with it today. This reel is impressive out of the box, it casts very smoothly and pretty far. Now I just need to pair it with a nice rod lol. Anyone out there who owns this particular reel, do you have any recommendations on a rod that would pair nicely? Thanks

Lol hmm...certainly expensive enough that's for sure ? while I may spend $300-$400 for a reel, that's a bit too rich for my blood. I can't really justify spending that much. If I was a professional in the industry then that's one thing. No doubt it's a great performer. I will just have to stand in the background and watch others use that particular rod from afar ?

Let us know your budget, we can give suggestions in line with that.  

I have mine on ARK Tharp Series Rods. 3 on Money Makers and 2 on Hammers. They're almost exclusively used on my Florida forays. They fish well above their price point. Brian.

For a rod I'm not really willing to spend more than $200. If it was a spectacular piece, possibly $250 but no more

I just got an IMX Pro MBR 903C this past summer and its awesome. 

highly recommended.  I have mine paired with a curado 200i but a Chronarch G would be awesome on it

a rod to do what?  No good suggesting you put it on an amazing crankbait rod if you want to pitch jigs.

I need to decide if I want to use the rod for crankbaits/spinnerbaits or for soft plastics. Have not made up my mind yet. But I still welcome suggestions either way

in that case, as a falcon fan I’ll throw out three. In the expert lineup they are $200 and in the cara they are $250. I have mostly expert and a couple cara.  I’ve used a chronarch on all of them to good effect. These three are the ones that always come out with me.  I’ll add two more rods depending which lake and time of year to fill out the rod holder slots. 
 

1 the head turner. 6’10” 1/4-3/4 fast heavy. It’s on the lighter side of heavy.  Great all around rod.  I use mine for moving baits (vibrating jigs, swim jigs, spinnerbait) mostly but it was also designed as a small pitching rod and I’ve used it for that.  It also works as a topwater rod for lighter cover frogs and big walking baits. Great all around rod.  
 

2 heavy cover jig (cara only). Newish to me but I like it a whole lot. 7’4” 1/2-1.5 fast heavy.  Meant for jigs and I’ll go with that. Much lighter tip than you’d expect when you pick it up, gets quickly into power on a hookset. Super light for that length and power.  Maybe a little big for a moving bait rod but anything bottom contact you’re in. 
 

3 hudson special (expert only).  7’3” mh MF 3/8-3/4.  All around big utility rod. This is where my chronarch lives now. It’s mostly a treble hook rod for me but I also fish big buzzbaits on it. Lipless Crankbaits, lipped Crankbaits up to a dt 14 or so, ploppers, etc. It fishes a bladed jig well if you like a little slower rod for that. I fish big buzzbaits on it too. 

 

 

Ark Makes a really Versatile 7'3 MH that can throw plastics and spinnerbaits/chatterbaits.  They offer a MagMH too which might be something to look into if you want to go with a rod under 160$.

If you want to spend slightly more $ then a 7'2 H XF M1 would be a good option.  Not to many rods under 200$ that give you a 36t blank with SiC guides.

The next step up would be a Rebellion or Zodias.
