What's the model? I'm not clicking link.

Penn TRQS.

Out of stock most places - but TD listed them at $500 for the TRQS-5 Gold, $700 for the TRQS-9 Black.

Thats an OG US made Torque the best spinners Penn has ever made.  The US Torques are built so well and the fact that they dont make them anymore means that the people who want them will pay top dollar, especially for the gold models.  The discontinued gold VSs are selling for the same price and people are buying them.

WOW, They even give you "Free Shipping"  LOL

Almost as much as a dozen large eggs!

Salt water fishing reels are expensive.  They are made to fight large fish in a tough environment. They are made from expensive materials and have robust drag systems.  Some even have multiple gear ratios that can be changed mid fight.   Back when I was offshore fishing, I used Penn International reels that cost over $600 each thirty years ago.  We had a rack built in our house to hold them all. The most expensive reels at that time were Fin-Nor easily costing $1,000 each.  There is a little "mine is bigger than yours" going on among those fishermen.   I once fished against a boat in a tournament with Fin-Nor reels used for the teasers.  The boat was a 54 Bertram and the guy owned a large real estate firm in South Florida.  We beat him fishing out of a 26' Contender.   A year later I read in the newspaper that he went bankrupt.   Wonder why? ?

I love some of the specs.

"Baits Type: Fake Bait"

Why is this thread allowed to be up when the mere mention of the place gets word filtered and entire conversations about $40 spools from that site get purned from peoples posts?

And now Pure Fishing owns Penn, Fin-Nor, and Van Staal, oh the irony. I still fish my old Penn Internationals and some Senators, but for the newer smaller stuff, I prefer other brands
