I fished 122 times in '22.  I work 24 hour shifts and we're empty nesters. We also live 1/2 a block from the ocean so I can go striper fishing whenever I catch the tides right.    I'm very l

  • I fish about 300 days a year since being retired for the last 7 years.  of those days about 15 days were from the boat.  My house is surrounded by 12 lakes within a 10 minute drive.  All are man made

150 to 200 times. I live 10 minutes from a decent smallie river. There are literally hundreds of places to bank or canoe fish around me.

....for two months out of the year ?

If I only count the days I fished for more than four hours, it's somewhere between 60-70. If I add the number of times I got out for an hour or two, you can double that number.  If the lakes and ponds didn't freeze over, I could hit 200 np.:dancing-baby:

I'm surprised by how many trips some of you were able to get or are able to get routinely from year to year.  I have friends and family that suggest that I fish more than anyone they know and I still don't get out nearly as often as some of you folks.   Last year I definitely got out 50 times, probably got out 60 and may have gotten out 70 times, but that includes times that I only fished for an hour, times that I fished a stream for trout, trips in the boat, etc. etc..  And the only reason that I now fish 50-70 times per year (or maybe a bit more) is because I'm recently retired.

I just got back into fishing last year after a 25 year hiatus so I’ve been hitting it pretty hard to make up for lost time. First outing was July 3rd, picked up a used canoe for just over nothing on July 6th…

I’ve bank fished for 1-5 hours a day at least 3 days a week since and taken the canoe out at least one day sometimes both every weekend except those we had a skim coat of ice.

My best bank trips have been before work. October 18th from 7:00-7:45 when I had to wrap it up I caught 3 LMB(2 dinks, 1 3lb), 2 Chain Pickerel and 12 Yellow Perch.

I’m hoping to relive that morning soon.

Edited to add context.

I have no children and a very stressful job. My wife is an angel that realizes what fishing does for my mental health is priceless.

I fished about 200 days last year from February to November. I keep my boat in the water and just do 3-4 hour low impact trips. It took me 46 years to live on a good bass lake, and I'm lovin it! When I get bored I just step out the back door, onto the dock, and onto the boat. It's easy to rack up 200 days when fishing is so convenient. Oh, the things that are possible for the unmarried...Mike Tyson Smile GIF

I would say I fished at least 60 days last year.  I always threaten to start logging my fishing, but haven’t done so yet.  I “plan” to log my info again this year, we will see if that happens.   Frozen lakes are a bummer.

100+ at least.

Living in south florida has key benefits.  Saltwater inshore, saltwater offshore and bottom fishing any time practically and its close by.  For freshwater we have ponds, canals and lakes.  That and living in a year round climate means more chances to fish.

Being self employed really helps.  Time, energy and physical vigor are finite resources, use it before it runs out.

Mine definitely fell off past couple of years but trying to go at least 20+ times this year
