My favorite attribute to the keitech is its body roll and big kick.  Don't let the hook overpower the bait- take an extra second or two and let it sink IMO.

it will depend on the specific head and hook, but that said I use 3.3s on most of my swim jigs and they have big hooks on them.  I've not had any issues with body action.  

Guppy head with 3/0 hook works just fine on 3.3s for me.

Yep. 3/0 guppy head is perfect for the 3.3. 

I’m fortunate to have a local tackle store that pours their own, and they are 2/0 hooks. The 1/8oz are a staple for me. If you haven’t already, I’d ask someone at a local shop if they could pour some to order.

 

Otherwise, it’s a rare-ish combo.

I use these with my  Keitechs, they come in a wide variety of hook size and weight combination. I primarily use the 1/4oz. When going after smallmouth, I go with 2/0. If I am chasing largemouth,  I use a 3/0. I find they pair well with soft swimbaits.

Did you look at kietech's ball heads? I know they make a 2/0 in a 1/4. Use it all the time. They're tungsten  but have better hooks then Owner and are still the light wire. Also can use their football jig heads. Can cut the small weedguard off and then you have a 3/8oz head with a 2/0  hook. And they work great when trying to keep the bait down.

Depends on the shank length.

I think Do-It Freestyle Jigs with a 2/0 or 3/0 Owner 5313 hook or Victory 10313 Hooks are nice with 3 to 3.5” Paddle Tails swimmers, especially when fished with 8 to 12lb. test line. Should be available somewhere in the sizes you mentioned ?

Bass Pro Shops Speed Shad head is a nice option in 1/8oz, 2/0 hook.

I started using these on a-rigs (I wanted a big gold eye) and they work great with 3.3 and 3.8. Hook is stout enough to deal with all the a-rig drama and smashing.

You could definitely drop down to a 2/0 hook, in the 2.75"-3" swimbait size you could get away with 1/0 hook which gives the tail way more action. I've got a couple different options in my terminal box:

• 1/0 DJ Guppy head
• 1/0 Z-Man Finesse Eyez Minnow Style Jig Head
• 2/0 Z-Man Chatterbait Willowvibe

Best hook set percentage, and doesn't hinder the action:  Screw lock jig head of your choice, cut the hook off at the bend, put the Keitech onto the jig by screwing it on, run a mono strung stinger small (size 8, I think-use your own judgment)  treble back from the eye and sink one of the treble points into the back of the Keitech a little less than half way back.  

 

I do this for the 3.8's but it should work with the smaller one, just go down as appropriate on the treble size.

 

I make a few up in advance to have them ready.

I'll try to get one, raining like heck out there right now, though.

This is close.  The hook is cut off at the bend so the bait can be screwed onto the screw retainer.  Instead of using a snap, use mono from the eye of the jig to the treble.  Use a smaller treble than this, about half the size of this one.  The treble goes into the back of the swimbait, on top, same side as the eye of the jig.  You don't want the treble in the bottom of the lure;  you want it on top and it cannot be this large or it will tend to turn the lure over which you don't want.  Get it done right and the motion in the water will look just like conventional swim bait rigging.  I'll see if I can get a photo of my actual rig.

 

I didn't get this done exactly right, the hook goes into the back seam of the lure and that seam lines up with the eye of the jig head.  The hook was cut off at the start of the bend, so the shank is inside the swimbait.  The jig head is one with a coil for attaching the lure.  Mono connects the treble to the eye of the jig head.  This is a 3.8 fat and the treble is a size 6 VMC.  For a 3 inch I'm guessing an 8 treble would be right.

Yes, just as would happen with a normal jig at the terminal knot to the line.   But it can be of any strength you want.  I use 15 and have never had it fail.  

@MickDdo you tie a loop between the jig head and treble or single termination on each?

I just tie with a normal terminal knot, no loop.  It takes a little practice to get the stinger mono length right, but it works very well when you get it right.  

I will have to give this a try and see how it works for me. Thanks for sharing.
