Super User Munkin Posted April 22 Super User Share Posted April 22 Today was like Christmas for me as my custom Ned hook samples arrived today. Now I have to make some more molds to accommodate them and wait for all them to be made. Based on my experience with Ned baits I went with a size 1 Limerick hook. For those who do not know that name its what is on a Jackhammer. Allen

Super User Jig Man Posted April 29 Super User Share Posted April 29 Nice looking jig Allen. What gauge is the weed guard wire and why bend the tip?

Not sure the weedguard size I can hit it with the calipers to see. The reason for the bend in the weedguard is two fold. First the first thing that pokes the fish is the hook, second is that the weedguard doesn't blind the fish. Allen 4
Super User Jig Man Posted April 30 Super User Share Posted April 30 Thanks Allen. I’m in the process of making weedless swim bait jigs with a Surflon guard it is coated and has to be glued in after the heads are painted and baked. An uncoated wire appeals to me. Super User Munkin Posted May 2 Author Super User Share Posted May 2 Calipers battery is dead so I need to figure out where to get one. I use two different wire weedguards in baits. One one that Ned is the lightest and personally only good for Neds. Other one is a twisted wire I mainly use for tube heads. Allen

Allen *I would like to see the keeper a little closer to the front of the hook - this aides in not only rigging soft plastics with the open hook but also especially better for T-Rigging to hold the soft plastic better (closer to the jig head) . To prevent snagging I am using Ned Jig heads to lend themselves to T-Rigging so I can bury the hook point in the soft plastic (the Berkley Half Head Jig in 1/16th oz. and 1/8th oz. is ideal for rigging a Ned Rig open hook OR T-Rigged with hook buried in the soft plastic) . It's a 90 degree jighead hook. I suggest you go with the EWG Ned hook. Allen
