So I went to a lake

Most people here know I am a river rat and chase smallies. I changed it up today and went to blue marsh. Now, there is smallies there but, my primary target was LMB. I struggled about half the day. I was making a last ditch effort to save the day and pulled out  three LMB. One dink and two alright ones. I was pitching a T rig to driftwood  on a wind blown bank.

Nice.  I've fished there several times with only a little success.  Can be a tough lake.

I rarely fish there. Maybe a handful of times a year. I know it’s not a big lake but, I try to fish it small. I think people spend to much time there going from spot to spot.

Nice!  A friend and I were there the other day and caught a few each, nothing to brag about but it was nice to see some fish cruising the shallows. It was still 2.5’ down at the time but once it gets to full pool senkos will crush them. After spawn, back to dragging jigs, t-rigs, and neds to stay productive.

I do tend to avoid the place but, it’s 32 minutes from the parking lot to backed into my garage doing the speed limit. My usual river areas are 40-60 minutes away.

I would like to fish it more but, I don’t like the crowds. Not so much the boats and launching it’s just the general groups of people hanging out in the lot walking around, crowding the ramp area etc.

I share the same opinion as you. I only fish it on weekdays when life and work allows to avoid some of that.  I switched boats a couple of years ago to one with a 20hp motor so Nockamixon and some electric only lakes have become my main lakes I prefer to visit now.  Even those lakes though see a lot of traffic, you just don’t get bounced around like at BM.

I sometimes lean towards the connivence side of fishing now. I love to do it and always want to be on the water. Sometimes I will sacrifice a better area just to get out. I used to go to nock when I had my 20hp and musky fished. It’s a bit of a drive for me. About an hour and a half.  The HP restriction helps with the not getting bounced around. Personally I’d rather head up to the north branch and hit up some smallie areas. It’s about the same distance as nock.

I would love to do that and maybe I will one day but that is a hike for me. I am about in the middle of where Nox and BM are. I have the Schuylkill a little closer and it fishes ok for numbers but sizable fish are not the same as Nox or BM.

I enjoy putting the pieces of the puzzle together.

Heck, yeah! That's the appeal of fishing.

Yes it is. I don’t like the instant gratification. I like to break it down then end up with a bunch of caught fish.
