Maybe put it on a spring and use stop hinges. Heck, might as well build in some LED lights and maybe a backup camera while you're down there

Now your talking! :D

You'll have more invested in the license plate than the whole trailer cost soon!

I don't have time to order these but I'll try to at least keep them in the order in which I did them.

Building the Trailer to get the Boat on Prior to Black Friday so that I would have one before they sold out.  Went back to Dicks Sporting goods to get the price adjustment on Black Friday.  When it was all said and done I got the boat for $456.00.

So the Future?

Well you cannot see it in any of the pictures but I built a custom boat dolly to get the boat from parking lots to the water edge, well day one and I ran into some issues.  The wheels wanted to lock up on me because I had them to tight, the L bracket I was using was on wrong and I didn't put pool noodle on the wood to cushion the boat while on the dolly.  I also need to get bigger wheels...with this simple design the dolly was to low.  I finished up redoing the axle brackets tonight and switched from screws to bolts.  I also got some 13" wheels which look like they might work well.  Tomorrow I'm going to do a full test with the boat loaded.  I am trying to make very...very...I repeat...very few trips back and forth from the car to the boat so I'm trying to make this thing to take the load of the boat, gear, and battery.

I also need to make the supports for the solar panel to sit in the front of the boat right where the legs for the chairs sit. Additionally, I still need to make by cables that will connect to the MC4 connectors on the solar panel and run to the battery with the solar charge controller in the back.  I will tell what this has been fun, and a project I have been working on since Sept of last year from planning what I want to do to the research on this site and YouTube.  I have tried to incorporate some of the ideas that worked for me, and in some cases made small changes.  All in all it has been fun.  I have already had her on the water for a short period of time so I no one of my next challenges will be launching at the neighborhood pond with a loaded boat.  The banks of the pond are not boat friendly...I may take a pic to show you what I'm working with.  Almost forgot once I'm done with the boat dolly I'll throw a pic up incase someone needs an idea.  I searched high and low and finally found one that I didn't think would cost me a small fortune however I now have two sets of tires, and a various amount of spare hardware...lol!

Impressive Lonnie! Thanks for the timeline of your build, you must have some electronics knowledge. Nice how you built or modified most all of it yourself. Let me know how you like that Striker and how it performs when you get the chance to really use it.

I'm sure your fishing rig will get some looks at the boat ramp. Its funny to see these guys in their big, metal flake fiberglass bass boats with a 200+ hp motor, launch and then having to use their trolling motor to get around on an electric only lake. Have had a few talk about getting rid of theirs and downsizing. The only real advantage they have is room and some of the lakes they can go on, mostly because of all the wakes they make, but as far as rigging it out, this forum has proven just about anything is possible.

Any suggestions for getting the Garmin striker 4transducer lower into the water and more stable for function . On a Scotty transducer mount too

or47506.jpgThe Ram mount is compatible with Scotty.  Good luck.

Nice write up Lonnie!  i am currently trying to determine two things about these boats.  Is it worth it for my area.  and if so Bass Raider 10e or Sun Dolphin Sportsman.  I only have a handful of electric only lakes/ponds within an "after work" driving distance.  There are 3 1500-1800 acre reservoirs within that driving distance though.  Do you all think that one of these is too small to explore some of these reservoirs?  Or should I just keep saving for a 16-20ft jon boat?  If the plastic boat becomes the option then I fish alone or with my dog (22lbs) 99% of the time.  Is it worth the extra $200 to get the 10e over the Sportsman?  Also are they similar in stability or is one more stable?

hey guys just joined up been reading for a while . a lot of great ideas on here i will get some pics up my pelican Rhino its like the raider but has live well and battery box from the factory i have put a few mods on it as well bought this boat new in 2000 and has to be the beast money i have ever spent love this thing . i use a single jet ski trailer to haul mine with no mods to the trailer works great easy to load and unload . i have a lowrance hook3x FF 44lb thrust TM 2 homade rod holders from pvc pipe and 2 other rod holders that i bought had an old trolling motor took it apart and made my rudder with that bracket big foot switch for the TM going to be installing led lights for some night bass fishing  ok i guess i found a few pics to put up here

Hey guys,

I have a Bass Raider 10 and it's been pretty good to me, but I'm having trouble with the front transom.   For some reason the outboard side of the front transom is angled outwards instead of being vertical, so the trolling motor won't clamp properly and tends to push itself right off the transom when in use.    Is there something I can do to it to fix this?    I'm kind of shocked that the boat would come like this, it's sort of a big problem.

Try mounting a piece of aluminum flat bar to the transom just above the clamps.

Picked up my Pelican the first of June and finished it this morning. Can't wait to get it on the lake. I had an original Bass Buster in the 80's and stayed the bass with it. I live on Lake Kiowa (560 acres) which was too small for my pontoon but just right for the Pelican. It's got a 54 lb thrust Motorguide Bulldog to push it and the ice chest is a functioning live well. Also set it up for night fishing. The Crappie and Sand Bass fishing is fantastic here.

I've heard them referred to up north as white bass. Down here they're Sand Bass followed closely by hybrid striper  and then stripers. You can get into a good school of sandies and catch 100-200 fairly easily.

Amazing thread!!!

Looking into a PBR10E, and was thinking that Gander Mountain might have them on sale, bankruptcy and all. Does anyone know whether they sell them in the Atlanta area? Their website no longer shows inventory and the personnel at the stores are to busy to answer their phones.

Thanks in advance and thanks mostly for the amazing ideas.

I currently fish the bigger lakes, that allow motors, on my jet ski, but need something for our area lakes and my tender is too unstable.

Frats,

Cam

I finally pulled the trigger. Just got back from Dick's Sporting Goods. $599 and she's mine!!

I'll post some pics as I modify it!! Tight lines everybody!!!

I've been kicking tires at a few 9.9 Jon boats and I'm starting to think I may end up with one of these instead.

I think there have been a few posts in this thread about using an outboard. For me, the trolling motor and battery meets my needs for the small ponds and lakes I fish.

I have a 3 hrs. Kicker for my 12 ft Jon and it pushes it pretty good .

Nice. I wouldn't mind it but I'm not sure I'd get the value out of it. Not many 5hp or less used are showing up locally.

And so it begins.

I have 55 lb thrust MK in back & 30 up front for trolling. I want to add a big foot switch to the front TM. Have a cheap Lowrance Hook3x. I want to add rod holders and carpeted floor.

Until next time....keep fishing!!!!

Ive also got a 40 lb thrust minn kota I switch between my jon and bass hunter.

It does great on small water bodies. It even lifts the front out of the water so if Im alone I put a heavy block in front to weigh it down and it goes a little faster.

Hey guys...I bought a used 8' Pelican and temporarily stored it upside down while waiting for title and registration. We had quit a rain storm and when I pulled the boat out to turn over and add the registration numbers, there was water inside. There is a drain plug on the end, but no matter how I tip/maneuver the boat, cant get the water out. Doesn't sound like much, but worries me.

Anyone have this experience?

Thanks
