Grainger must be high as giraffe privates, I made a 10'er  from 1" PVC filled with hardwood dowels for less than $25. No way would I pay $89.95 ;)

Well I see it as a good deal because the professional ones are anywhere from a 100-300 bucks and I have an actual fiberglass one for 40 bucks that only weighs a couple pounds and won't deteriorate....

Great video!  Did you silicone your transducer to trolling motor as well or is it solely attached with the meta clip?

Did you silicone the oar clips on or use screws?

Thanks for for the great ideas!

Thanks...I didn't silicone the transducer.  I used silicone on the oar clips in addition to the screws. Everywhere I screwed anything into the boat I used silicone.

Hi Everyone,

I have been following this thread for some time now and I just bought a Bass Raider 10e from the local Dicks Sporting Goods in my area.  When it was all said and done I got it for a steal at 499.  With those savings I purchased a 45lb Minn Kota Riptide trolling motor and a Duracell Platinum AGM 31DTMAGM battery.  I got a 1195lb Harbor Freight trailer, and trailer jack.  So far this has been fun...I already have the boat, and trailer registered and I am just waiting for warmer weather.  In the meantime I have ordered my Life Vest, built a push\anchor pole using the garden stake previously mentioned and some PVC, para-cord, and two carabiners.  Almost forgot I picked up a Garmin Striker 4.  I'm also building a power pack that I can plug a solar panel into...I actually already have that built I'm just waiting on the charge controller, flush mount sae port and Christmas so I can purchase my panel.  I'm not looking to run the motor on solar but I want to be able to extend my fishing time by charging it on the go.  I will also be using my portable back as an emergency back up and to charge phones, and run the fish sonar.

This has been a cool project so far, still got some work to do before I'm ready for spring, but man I'm loving it and I haven't even hit the water yet....darn it I almost forgot that I'm building a boat trolley so I can get the boat from parking lots to the waters edge.

Hey Folks,

Thanks for the incredible shares and ideas here. Lonnie's intro above if very similar to mine. I am prepping to new 10E's for use this spring. Have trailer ready to go, made to stake-out poles and trolley out of PVC. Next up is the 3 piece floor carpeted and seat risers. Really trying to fabricate as much of the mods as possible as it is a way to save tons of money and is actually very fun when making these boats your own. Will keep a close eye on this forum as I believe this is the best way to get out there on small bodies of water and enjoy to the fullest.

See you all around!

I have a question. Bass raiders are so stable, have y'all ever flipped over in them?

I have a basshunter, and not once in the 30+ years I've been using it. I have had large wakes flood me before, but never flipped or sank.

I've had a Pond Hopper (twin pontoon type) and now have a Bass Hound (tri-hull type) and have never came close to flipping either one over. Like Hamma said, I've had a wake or two come over the bow from idiots in bigger boats coming by too close and too fast but never even felt like I was in danger of overturning.

this whole thread is dynamite!

i just ordered a big foot trolling motor switch, what a thing of beauty this will turn out to be

trying to buy a 10e but i might wait for it to go on sale at canadian tire, its currently $1000 canadian

great work guys!

I get high 3 mph range with my 55lb thrust TM. 3.7 to 3.8 mph range with 2 people and gear.

What are you all using for a measuring tape?  I found a stick on one on amazon I like.  Do you all have any recommendations?

Seat risers:  What exactly do I need to raise my seat up?  Currently just have the plastic seat on a bracket which fits in the hole.  As seen below.   Would like to raise them up a foot  or so .   IMG_0023.jpg

Got a stick on type from Academy for $0.37! And 18.5 inches of it fit perfectly on the lid of the livewell on my BassHound 9.4.

If the bracket is bolted, just shim the seat, and use longer bolts.

That is a much cheaper idea, thanks!

Hi guys. Just recently discovered this site and decided to buy a bass raider as a result of this topic. Found a fair price on a used one with a brand new motor guide R3 40 lb thrust trolling motor. My question is, what is the ideal battery specs for this TM? I work for a battery company, so I pretty much have access to almost any batteries. That being the case, what battery specs should I try and get?

Series 29 12v marine deep cycle should be fine.

Also got a 14 inch seat extension pole from Academy for like $15-20 range that raises the seat up high enough to actually sit without your knees being at shoulder level! Lol

Can you attach a picture of you seat setup?

Yes, that's it, 11" extension pole. My bad, it's like 14" including the peg/insert part. (Don't have a pic with the seat extension in, sorry)

I was looking to get a group 29 battery as well but found an awesome deal at Sam's Club on a Duracell Group 31 battery.  Regular price was 179.82.  I picked mine up for 94.00 plus 18.00 core charge, which I didn't think was bad.  It is an AGM Deep Cycle Marine and RV Battery model 31DTMAGM.  It's sealed and maintenance free and vibration resistant.    I will say this...this battery has some weight to it so make sure you account for that when planning out your boat setup.  I'm running a Minn Kota Riptide 45lb thrust trolling motor.

Got to do a little fishing before it got cold while off of work before the new year.. I did get a new seat for Christmas.

Nice going Reaper!  Is that a rudder fabricated on your rear trolling motor? If so please share the construct and materials. I have not seen that type of mod. The new seat looks awesome!

Searching for outboards to use on my basshound 10.2.  I have someone offering me a briggs & Stratton 5hp 4stroke for a decent price.  Anyone have any experience with this motor?  Reviews I'm reading say its pretty loud since its aircooled.   Here's a pic of it:  as1.JPG

You may want to search through the 100 pages of this thread, there is a ton of info on attaching accessories, anchors, holders, and such. well worth the search.

I have a 8' basshunter and use 2 motors, and batteries, as I can reach both from the center of the rig. Whenever I need to anchor I just tie the rope to the seats bracket. But its rare that I do anchor.

Picked up a pelican predator 103 off craigslist. Came with a trailer a 3.5hp outboard battery trolling motor and a few extras. I was going to get the 10e but for 300 more I snagged this one up. Ive been preparing it for this weekend too bad theres not a lot of info on them like the bass raiders.
