throttleplate
While at scheels i went to the counter as i always do and asked to buy my fishing license. No more obtaining license in store, only online. If that is true for all bait and tackle stores some old timers with no computer knowledge may be left frustrated about this.
Super User gimruis Posted May 2, 2023 Super User Share Posted May 2, 2023 I've generally bought mine in person too, although I have bought a hunting license online before. I think there should be both options available. I almost always buy some fishing tackle, line, or ammo when I go in and buy a hunting or fishing license. That is going to cost in-store retailers some sales.
Super User flyfisher Posted May 2, 2023 Super User Share Posted May 2, 2023 All the places that sell fishing licenses online literally have you use their computer and get it online. They aren't losing any sales because of this either. I mean this isn't 1970....

Don't when it's gonna go bye-bye - but just after ice-out I picked mine up at the local BP.
Super User Tennessee Boy Posted May 2, 2023 Super User Share Posted May 2, 2023 I like the way they do it online here. You can print it or just pull it up in the app on your phone. I have mine set to auto renew so I don’t have to do anything. They do sell them in stores for folks who are stuck in the 80s. I would be very surprised if a state didn’t have an option for getting a license without a computer.
Super User Bankbeater Posted May 14, 2023 Super User Share Posted May 14, 2023 If you can save the license to your phone then great, but if you need a network to pull the license then you might have a problem in areas that have no coverage.

Should be at least able to save a screenshot of the page...then you got it on the phone.
Skunkmaster-k
I bought my license online last week and then left my electronic tether at home cause I didn’t want to be bothered. It wasn’t until the game warden drove past that it dawned on me. Ohhh…. Fuuudge , as Ralphy would say.
Fishin Dad
I hate technology being an older fella, but I have ordered my MN licenses online for a few years and it is really simple. I print a copy and save another to my phone. I have been asked by DNR and handed over my phone. No worries. I think it is too bad that they don’t even allow on site sales though. For some, that is kind of a ritual and a right of passage. Not surprising though with the direction we are headed.
