I spend a fair bit of time on the road, and am looking for recommendations for bass fishing podcasts.  I'd prefer podcasts that focus on general fishing tip, techniques, baits etc. rather than talking about the various tournament series.  I've searched around and found a few, but most are too heavy into talking about the professional tours.  Smallmouth Crush is my favorite so far, but I'd like to find something similar about largemouth fishing.

Tackle Talk is really good.
The guy is to the point and organized. Not a bunch of bubbas kicking back saying “umm, yeah, so, it’s totally…” He’s at his best when breaking down how to pick up on a pattern.

 

Just browse episodes for interesting themes. The interview with Jacob Wheeler he did awhile back was pretty good, too.

 

I’ve just started listening to Bass Talk Live, also. The one episode I listened to was also good, though more conversational.

 

Like you, I spend plenty of time on the road, for work.

Bass talk live,  Mercer, stay casts and get the net are the ones I consistently listen to.

No doubt you have come across Bass Talk Live.  It is very tournament oriented.  BUT, there is also a ton of very in-depth technique discussions.  The Day 4 episodes, especially.   I was where you are about a year ago, not caring at all about the pro events.  But I have really come to enjoy all of it.  It is cool the way pros are often willing to breakdown their recent events in a lot of detail....so even when tournament focused, there can be great info just about finding, fishing, catching. 

BTL is great, although definitely features a lot of tournament talk. But Thursdays they get really in depth about techniques or baits or other educational stuff. Usually  has episodes every week day but day 4s with Frank Scalish is what you’ll want. 
 

Tackle Talk is another really good one. Don’t get much in to tournament stuff so it’s mostly educational. Sometimes you may have to skip a 20 minute sponsor plug in the beginning but thats what  FF is for. I wish this was more than once a week. 
 

The Mercer podcast is pretty good too but I don’t like it as much as the other 2 I mentioned. 

The Big Bass Podcast.    Easily my favorite.  

Check out Tackle and Tacos. It puts a little different spin on things, but it's a good listen.

For a podcast that's usually around 40 minutes, it seems like half the show is ads.

 

I still listen every week but that would be my only gripe.

I learn a ton on Alex Rudd's show when he interviews fisheries biologists and pond mgmt.

 

Well worth the time on a car trip or a bad day for getting out where you're cooped up doing chores.

I had found Tackle Talk previously, but didn’t get far into it.  I listened to a couple episodes today and it’s good, so I’ll dig around in there for a while.  Agreed that FF is the ticket for the product plugs.  I don’t mind though - good content has to get paid for somehow.

Definitely. These guys have piqued my inner nerd about this stuff.

Fish the moment is very informational.  Jigsquad, The Tackle Shop, and BTL on Thursday with Frank Scalish.  These are more Tackle and technique specific.  I listen to a lot of others that are more tournament and other info.   
 

When driving by myself, I usually have a podcast going.

Isn't Fish the Moment the one that Blaukat is associated with? 

 

Tackle Shop Live is my other weekly listen. Mike and George Acord are fantastic.

Fish the moment is Jonny Schultz.  Randy is never on Fish the Moment, but yes, Jonny and Randy work together on other stuff through Fish the Moment.  Jonny Schultz is fantastic.  

A & E Podcasts is a relatively new one.  Everything from lures and how to use them, too building your own high end fishing rods.  Some really interesting stuff.
