Glide Bait Chop Retrieve - Can Be Used Besides Spro KGB Chad Shad?

Featured Replies

Can any glide bait or swimbait use the chop technique? I know that the Spro KGB Chad Shad that the chop retrieve is made for this glide bait.

I do have quite a few glide baits, R2S S-Waver, Baitsanity Antidote, Savage Gear Glide Swimmer and Ima Glide Fluke. Can I use chop retrieve with any of these glides?

By chop technique do you mean a downward rod tip snap?

If that is a chop then yes that is how you make the lure turn hard to one side.

I like the flatter bodies for chopping but that savage gear glide swimmer can do it pretty decently.  Savage gear shine glide does it well.

Usually the good chop baits will fold close to 90 degrees when you hold them up, nose down.  I've seen "internet people" grind out the abs on the joints to get that type of bend.  Might be a fun project with an s-waver or SG.

ps - I can sometimes get the chop rhythm with the Ima Glide as is

ps - found my internet people

Tie them on and try them out. You’ll learn how each bait likes to be worked

I have several glides I "chop", but I don't know if any of the baits you listed will work. The KGB original and Spro version both do it very well, and so does the Clutch Glide.
