Who has switched from Ultrex to Ghost?

I’ve been boat shopping (I shouldn’t be, but yet I am) and I’d like some real world opinions about the Ghost. My Ultrex was a game changer and I certainly don’t regret it, but it’s far from perfect. It’s loud when you rotate it, the GPS on the spot lock is very inconsistent, and the boat scale can’t be turned down enough to work well on an aluminum RT188. I wouldn’t ever go back to a Maxxum or Fourtrex, but it’s not perfect.

I found a leftover new 2023 boat I like that has a Ghost and networked Lowrance electronics. If you have a Ghost or have switched from an Ultrex to Ghost I would really appreciate your input. Thanks in advance.

I was waiting on someone who's actually made that change to comment, but here's my 2 cents worth.   When I was looking at trolling motors I talked to pretty much everyone at the landing that would talk to me about theirs.   The 5 or 6 people I talked to who had Ghost motors were all happy with them.   If you like the boat, and the price is right you can always change back to an Ultrex later if you decide the Ghost isn't for you.

I fish (back seat these days) out of bass boats with both and prefer the Ghost when operating both units.

The Ghost is a brushless TM, lighter weight with smaller underwater power head making it very easy the maneuver the unit. I am not a fan of the Ultrex foot peddle, too big.

The real negative for me is the recover weight difficult to left compared to the Ghost.

Love both units spot lock feature and give the Ghost the advantage quietly holding on spot lock.

It comes down to your preferences.

im sure the ghost will be fine, but if you dont like it minn kota makes a new brushless ultrex that gets great reviews. i forget the name. another thing to consider is are their warrant and repair centers in your area. this for some reason is minn kota country. lots of sevice centers other brands not so much.

I have a ghost and networked it to all my graphs.  I love it. Best motor I’ve ever run.  The spotlock is spot on for me.  I run mine on 36v. Tons of power.  The motor uses a lot less juice than my old fortrex

Yes they do.  And it costs $10,000,000.

I have preached this numerous times on here myself.  This is why I got the Ultrex when I wanted the Force.  I had a service center install it and it's only an hour away.  There's no Lowrance service center, but the boat I'm going to look at is brand new so I'll make it the dealer's problem and demand that they do the take off, shipping, etc if there's a problem.  At least that's my plan if I buy this boat.  LOL

Thank you very much.  This is encouraging.  I'm going to go look at the new boat this weekend.  I don't NEED a new boat....but...
