As bad as the year has started, I'm going to go with 5.75lbs and 21.25". I'll go out on a limb and say it'll be on a jig.

Smallmouth will be 3.75lbs 19.5" and I'm going to catch it next month in Oklahoma on a crankbait.

I was already wrong on both my predictions 🤷‍♂️

I caught a 6.01lb, 19.75" largemouth on a homemade bladed jig last month, and I didn't catch a single, solitary fish on a crankbait while I was in Oklahoma, and surely no smallmouth that size.

Largemouth Shad. They have DD in Stillhouse Hollow. You might surprise yourself. The private lakes I fish with probably give me at least a 7 pounder. The are some 12 plus in some .

Just saw this. Since posting my estimate, I did actually set my goal for a DD this year so that’s the train we are on currently.

@Fishingmickey man that's a monster! I saw some of the giants they were catching at PK, including the one longer than the 26" Ketch board, made me think it might have been from there.

That one that was longer then the 26" Ketch board was at Lake Brownwood also.

@Fishingmickey @Bluebasser86 gosh dangit I keep telling myself I need to get out to Lake Brownwood ASAP. Stillhouse is good too, don’t get me wrong. I’ll still be fishing there lots. But I wanted a backup lake, so to speak.

I really think LGMshad, that day was a magical morning. Where the shad spawn and everything aligned for the big girls to feed. I lost a beast on my first cast at 6:15 am. About 6:20ish I got a 20.25 and I think I got the 25.5" at 6:35?? By 7:00 am the sun came up and the shad spawn bite died quickly after that. There was some more good fish caught after that. But that first 1/2 hr - 45 minutes were unreal for me. Biggest tournament fish I have ever caught. I think I have lost some as big or bigger. But that was the biggest I have photo'ed

You should check the results from the 5/18 TXKBFL on Still house last Saturday.

Looks about right! lol!

I dont really care to know how well they did but I do try and pay attention to how people are catching them to see if it aligns with what I am good at/want to learn.

I know that 2024 is already 23 days old.  But let's start this today.

Make your own prediction here and guess what the biggest bass you catch in 2024 will be.  Can be largemouth, smallmouth, spotted, or all three.  No rock bass or striped bass.

Be realistic too.  You can predict by weight or length because people use both here.

I'll go first.

Largemouth - 20.5 inches

Smallmouth - 21 inches

I hit my largemouth goal today for 2024.

I can confirm this today.

@gimruis: You sure did, buddy. As I wrote already, I expect nothing but smaller bass than the two I already caught. I'll just be content with a busy boat the rest of 2024.

I'd be fairly shocked if I can catch a bigger largemouth this season.  Maybe a longer one by length, but not a heavier one given that the fish here are still prespawn.  They are going to drop some weight soon and won't put that back on until later in the season.

I do feel like I can still get to the smallmouth one though.  Unfortunately I just don't get the opportunity to specifically target smallmouth as much because they don't inhabit areas as close to where I live.

@gimruis: I think you'll start another hot streak like the one you enjoyed late last year and you'll boat a bevy of beauties.
