Rod value and info help?

Featured Replies

Picked up a pile of rods at an estate auction a few months ago and came across a rod that I'm having trouble tracking down online.

It's a G. Loomis GL2 PR 845c

Not marked IMX Pro and the GL2 graphic appears to be a older design than anything I can find on eBay.

From what I've read these are good crankbait rods?

Can anyone help with an era and ballpark value of this rod? Thanks!

I bought a new GL2 in 1988.

These are Graphite II - IM6.

Excellent moderate rods.

Anyone I loan this rod wants to take it home.

Loomis is really not the same company now - the current company is part of Shimano.

Larry Kenney was in charge of rod production back then.

Are there any significant numbers you can use to contact G-Loomis?

Are you just trying to flip it or something?

Not necessarily, but I buy and sell gear all the time and keep all the money within the hobby. My way to afford trying different gear.

I've always really liked IM6.

I think that's one of the older saltwater popping rods. Is it blue ?

Back in the day they were real popular for cranking. Close to the CBR 845.

I had one 12 or 15 years ago. wish I had kept it.

As to value, $75-$100.

I'll echo 75-100 max.

They were still using that GL2 logo design when I got into Loomis rods in 1998. So it may not necessarily be from the 80s.

Just after than they changed the logo on the GL2s to the one with the weird 2 on it.

No doubt you can find old G. Loomis catalogues online to verify.

Loomis was sold to Shimano in 1997 so right around the same time as the buy out.
