Line recommendation

Featured Replies

I don't fish swimbaits much but I have a 3 Oz Bacca Burrito i want to try... what size line would you recommend for straight fluorocarbon? Not likely to run into anything over 5 lbs and it's clear water so I want to spool as light line as I can. Thanks.

I throw that exact bait on 20lb Sniper FC

You could go down to 17lb if you're fish are really line shine.

What rod & reel do you plan to use for the 3 oz swimbait?

If you plan on using FC line you should consider replacing the line before every other outing as FC weakens from casting stress. 20 lb Seaguar or Sunline.

I've got a couple rods that can handle that bait but likely a MB Tequila B paired with  a Zillion TW HD. I'm normally a braid to leader guy but that large line the TWing just doesn't like my knots.

You have high end tackle but may not imo be suited for swimbaits in general. 7’ fast action rod with 3/4-4oz lures, no fore grip. It will work just not ideal, short and fast action.

The Daiwa Zillion HD slightly deeper spool but small, a good combo, questionable for the application.

My normal line choice is Sunline Deifer Armilo 25 lb / .016D for medium to larger size swimbaits. Armilo is no longer available in US markets?, still available in Japan.

PS, FC use Seaguar Tatsu 22/.015D or 25/.016D.

I’d personally use 30lb braid to 16 lb sniper fluoro leader… my bad just noticed you said straight fluoro lol. Sorry
