This May Have Been A Bad Week For Vacation- Houston Area

All I wanted was a week off and do some fishing at the local pond and lakes. But four days straight of severe thunderstorms and flooding has kinda put the kibosh on that. Not gonna complain as the house is high and dry and others have been flooded out. But it sucks. The pond may be ok in a day or two but the lakes are likely to be very muddy and full of debris (if not outright closed to boating traffic).

More storms coming soon. Ugh.

I've got a buddy down there right now at a concrete convention for work. He just text me and said how crappy the weather is.

Lived south of Houston close to the coast and went through a storm that dropped 30 inches of rain in 24 hours. Two years later Hurricane Alica. Moved to Dallas🙃

If I’m not mistaken, virtually the entire city of Houston lies below sea level. The entire city was basically built on coastal marshland. Can’t even count how many times that area floods every year. And a hurricane there seems inevitable too.

I’d move north to Dallas as well.

Man it's a mess down there. I hope yall get some relief soon!! My lakes up here in DFW are all super full and bank access is nearly impossible in some areas. Can't recall seeing it much worse than this but a few times. Weird how those hundred year floods have been happening so often.

Don't look now but today could be a big tornado day in Oklahoma, and the end of this week could get interesting too. Weird how this year has been more intense than normal.

It’s amazing that some areas got flooded worse than during Harvey. I wasn’t here for that but I know it was bad. It’s what drove us to ensure that we moved to an area that didn’t flood then.

The weather the rest of the week looks good. Just not sure what the waters will be like.

Heads up for anyone who lives in central Oklahoma or southern Kansas, this is probably gonna be one of those days they talk about for a long time

Lived in Missouri City and Alvin both south of Houston for about five years. Live close to Ft. Hood now . Been here for 30 years
