Soft Jerkbait Color

Featured Replies

I love to fish flukes.  I have lots of success with them.  I have always treated the same  as hard jerkbaits, by that I mean that I almost exclusively fish them in water with good visibility.

However, I wanted to know if anyone has ever tried them in more off colored or stained water.

If you have what was your experience?  Did you use a more contrasting color?

The river lately has been low, but dirty like it always is. A guy was catching a ton of bass on green pumpkin flukes.

Id however prefer white/pearl with a chartreuse tail. But i think thats more of a me preference than one of a bass.

Mostly white or pearl for smallies  but around the spawn I like to frequent a largemouth only spot and throw baby bass or watermelon green..

White is really hard to beat.  Blue glimmer is a good in between that zoom makes.  Ham bone is good too.  I find they work awesome in super dirty water.

Pearl white, albino, and a custom poured one in Yamamotos Natural Shad color.

I use bubblegum a lot in the off-color water. Otherwise, Arkansas shiner or any shad color. I don't think it matters much.

I have a full selection of Yamamoto DShads.  Never leave home without them.  I fish them many different ways.

The Caffeine Shad in siren (yellow) color might be more visible to you in dark water...

White pearl, Watermelonseed, or Baby Bass.

Just realized Yamamoto has discontinued the bubblegum color in the ShadShape.  That’s disappointing.  It’s one of my best spring smallmouth colors.  Luckily I have a pretty large supply.  I will begin conservation efforts on those😂

baby bass is my favorite all around color, pearl is my favorite when the water is dirty and i’m working it through flooded brush.

I use Gambler or Bass Assasin  native shiner or copperfield

Thanks to all that replied.  I keep two colors on hand, Green Pumpkin and White Pearl.  I’ll give the White Pearl a shot next time I’m fishing a spot with water that’s dingy.
