I used to have an antique gas can that was made of metal. Ethanol rotted a hole in it. 

Seriously ALL non race cans suck.  All these options that are being offered are garbage in comparison.  Get a race can and enjoy super fast, spill free pouring.  They aren't even expensive.  Stop with this other nonsense.

My wife got me one at Harbor Freight yesterday.  I tried it out this morning.  It worked great.

I've had good luck with a safety siphon shaker style hose. I just have too many cans to be able to justify another. 

 

That type of thinking does not apply to fishing equipment!

I never knew this was a thing.  The last time I bought a gas can was 20 years ago, and I still use it every week to fill my mower.
