Best bait caster for light lures.

Featured Replies

Any recommendations for a good bait caster to throw light lures?

How light?

1/8-3/8 type light then an SV or MGL spool reel. If you need to be lighter then you need a bfs shallow type spool.

Kastking zephyr. 'bfs'. I can't throw super light on it but am very comfortable with 1/8 on it.

Ive had really good luck with the Alderbaran BFS.

Did just purchase a SLX BFS as well, and it seems to be working really well so far.

Daiwa Pixy for me, but these guys are also right

Smartest thing is pick one of your existing reels, Pixy, Alphas, or Zillion, and swap-in aftermarket spool and BFS spool bearings.  You'll have a better reel than twice the amount spent on an Ali Express reel.

And you can always swap it back.

I run Curado’s bfs on a Dobyns ultra finesse 7’1” rods for my finesse fishing.

I've been using the same set up and have been very pleased with it.

What lures do you intend to use, what line and what rod?

This is an important consideration for me once I drop down to 3/16 oz. or less.  I'm not the caster many on here are, so I need a rod that is going to load.  For me putting a 12# mono on a ML or Light power rod is a waste of good line.
