Shimano 24 Poison Adrena Review?

Featured Replies

Anyone have a chance to use these yet? If not how are the older models? Any reviews?

Are the new ones available to purchase now? I have the current/previous model. 6'11 M+ casting. Awesome rod. Very versatile.

I also have the 6'11 M+ and just like @NorthernBasser mentioned above very versatile and also very light, I mostly throw 3/8 chatter bait mini max on mine.

I like it so much that now I have 2...dang bait monkey!

I'll third the 6'11M+ love, it's my favorite of the old line up.  But I still really like the 7'2H, 7'3MH, and 7'6XH too.  I think ALF has the old models on sale right now.

Picked up a 6'4 BFS model a couple of months ago and am very pleased. No experience with the previous Adrena models, but do have a number of the recent Exprides. The new Zodias is noticeably lighter than the Exprides and extremenly sensitive. Very pleased with my purchase. Would definitely buy again.

I have 6'6 medium 2 pc and their light, comfortable and sensitive looking forward to the 7mh and 72 heavy model.

I had the prior model (pre-2024) in a 73mh. Loved it for spinnerbaits and chatterbaits on fluorocarbon and light texas rigs with braid. Was such a fun rod. ALF has some of the 2024’s in stock now.

Can easily see myself getting a fleet of them should I ever divert from Phenix.

UPDATE…my local shop had a 7’3” MH in stock today. Really like the looks. The blank feels just a tad bit stiffer compared to the prior generation. My shop is holding it for me and Im going back to get it tomorrow. I can already tell it would make a great texas rig, 3/8oz jig, and frog rod.

Only thing we were looking at is the open end cap on the butt. The butt of the rod is hollow and with the open end, i can see debris getting in there for you bank bangers.

Ill provide an update once I pick it up snd get it out on the water next week.

I believe these will be a tad stiffer because they were made for the American market.

I'm still not sure on the looks. I'll have to get one in hand. I love the looks of the previous version. It seems pretty similar. Not sure I like the gold (or is it orange/copper??) accents with the silver accents. Should've just went with one or the other.

That makes perfect sense. While the prior gen makes a great chatter/spinnerbait rod, these will be perfect tx rig/jig/frog rods (open to light cover).

The color is more of a deep copper in person. Natural titanium may have looked a tad sleeker but in all honesty, the copper provides a nice, subtle pop.

My local store has these on sale for $250......started to read the Tackle Warehouse reviews and see lots of negative reviews about the tips breaking off.   Combine that with the 1 year warranty and it's a bit concerning.

Looking at the 7'2 H or 7'3 MH for bottom contact stuff like Free Rigs.

Can anybody comment on the breaking aspect of these rods?  I assume the ones on sale are the older model if a new one is out.

The breakage issues you speak of were with the prior generation and I’m pretty sure they were related to user error.

I personally had two of the prior gens and never had a single issue. Im confident the new gens are even better.

I think there are 3 models, 2016, 2018, and 2024.  The 2016 had more reported breakage from what I remember and leaned toward jdm lengths and actions.  The 2018 models are what I own.  Their issues have to do with the finish and are strictly aesthetic.  I have the 6'11M+, 7'3MH, 7'2H, and 7'6XH all bought used.  My 6'11 and 7'2 have a coating on the blank that has bubbled and eventually popped and flaked off.  This was not a pleasant look but affected the rod in no way that I could tell.  I'm not the only one that had this issue.  Eventually, I worked all the flaking off completely and the rod looks decent again, not as clean as brand new, but good enough.

I throw a lot of bottom contact with the 6'11 and 7'2 and think you should expand your free rig search to include the 6'11M+.  My favorite of the 4 I own by far and all are well worth $250 in my opinion.

I have the previous version (that one that was just replaced)...the 6'11 M+. Awesome rod! Fortunately I haven't had any issues with the finish peeling etc.
