quantum accurist  vs daiwa advantage

Featured Replies

i need help..i am going to purchase a new reel and can't decide whether to buy a new accurist or daiwa supertuned advantage. i have 3 accurists and like them except they have all made a visit to reel mech for repair..i bought an adavantage super tuned late last year and only used it sparingly and could cast a bit better with the accurist. i guess i need to hear from people who have not had problems with the accurist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i had 1 the accurist cx500 i think

i bought a mg50 reel and sold all my heavy reels

i posted it on here but before i could sell it my dad called and said i better be selling it to him

he loves the flippin switch

says there is no better thing when boucing a jig on the bottom and using the trolling motor u just click the buttom hold it in to let out line and let ur finger off and the reels ingaged no having to turn the reel handle

I have one of each and I like them both very much. If I had to pick between one, I would go with the TDA 153 HST. Its one of my favorite reels and it hasnt let me down in the 2 years I have owned it.

My Accurist PT has never failed me either, but I have all kinds of trouble with 2 AC500's that have pretty much made me stay away from Quantums from now on.

Go with the Daiwa, an accurist was the first quantum i owned, and it will be the last. It didn't even last a year for me, and yes i took care of it and had it lubed/cleaned properly. I have the advantage supertuned and i really like it.

I would go with the Quantum Accurist hands down. I love my Accurists, and my brother (he's 12 and got one as his first baitcaster yesterday) loves his. I love the flippin' switch and the retrieve is really nice.

I've had a Accurist for over 2 years now.  Not one problem with it.

Every one knows that I am a SHIMANO fan.  I also own a Daiwa HST that my gransaon used.  If it will stand up to him it is a great reel.

I never listen to people who have had problems with Quantums because I have an old EX500 that has been through hell and back and is still working smooth as can be.  But I am not one of those one horse loyalists either.  I can understand why you are having trouble deciding but  I would go with the Accurist.   Main reason is the Advantage is too low profile in my opinion and I don't like the way it feels in my hand.

But I am not one of those one horse loyalists either
I would not call a person who like one brand over the other a one horse loyalists either.

Hey, please don't take offense to what I said.  I'm not talking about you.  We are just in a time where there is so much good stuff out there that I could never restrict myself to one brand.  It would be like going through high school and only having one girlfriend.  I was just trying to clarify that I don't think he should buy it because I am a "Quantum man."  It was not my intention to offend anyone.

i don't take offense..i am loyal to certain brands if i like them.....if i wasn't loyal i wouldn't consider buying another accurist!!!!!!!!!!no problem here

I use Accurists on four of my rigs and love 'em.I've never used the Daiwa so I can't really give you a thumbs up or down on that one,but the Accurists haven't given me any trouble.

thanks for the replys..i think i may give the accurist one more try..anymore problems it will be my last..........

mferris,

You know me, I was a Quantum team member.

But after all of the problems you and I have seen with the Accurist CX's, I wouldn't go with any Quantum® reel that wasn't in the PT series from now on.

I sold off all of my AC501CX's and got back to getting my Shimano® collection restarted. Back in the 80's I was a Shimano® loyalist.

If your only looking at the two manufacturers, then I would say try the Daiwa® Advantage, but like I said the only Quantum's I would look at would be in the PT series.

Good luck with your decision....

Tight Lines!!!

but like I said the only Quantum's I would look at would be in the PT series.

RM what makes the PT series that much different than the other versions?

Just wondering because I have a Accurist PT and a AC500, I never had a problem with the Accurist PT but I sure cant say the same about the AC500. The AC500 pretty much ruined me for Quantums, but the Accurist PT has been a stable workhorse without a lick of trouble in 2 years.

That, fellow members, is a strong statement.

(and one that is sure to bring joy to bud and roadwarrior.   ...lol)

I would go with a Team Daiwa for one reason. The warranty. I love and own a bunch of quantum reels with no problems, but mine are old. For my money you can't beat the warranty of Team Daiwa. Here in Bama you simply send it in to a TD dealer and they rebuild for free usually minus shipping. Kinda like craftsman as far as a warranty goes. As always a reel that has obviously been abused won't get fixed for free by TD, but regular wear and tear are usually taken care of.

I would go with the Daiwa.  I own a regular Advantage and I really like it.  I returned an Accurist to get it becuse I just didn't care for the accurist after I bought it.  The Daiwa feels more solid.

i am sure the Super tuned would be even better.

Umm, sure you could, you could use the one that works best for you. When it comes to fishing tackle I am absolutely brand loyal/specific. If ity wasn't this way I'd be travelling around with an extra ton of gear.....gear that I had little confidence in. In this game, confidence means everything.

I too am Shimano loyal. I service 100's of reels each season and feel that shimano makes the best reels on the planet. They are very servicable. I've never had to tell somone that I couldn't fix their Shimano or it wasn't worth it. I can't say that about most other brands. As for the Accurist. I'm glad you guys like them. I for one would never purchase a reel from Quantum due to what I've seen working with them.

I don't think that you will go wrong with either.

I have an AC from the first generation, I think about 6 y/o and a 2 y/o PT, I'm very please with both. The PT is my favorite pitching reel. I have some Daiwas and I like them too. Quantum customer service have been pretty good to me in the past, now I send them to ReelMech!!!!..
