Need a new rod

Featured Replies

I have the Marshall and its an excellent all around rod. Its one of my 3 I pick when I have to limit myself to just a few.

I’ve decided to upgrade through St Croix to a victory casting rod. When you upgrade, the warranty fee drops from $60 to $30.

What would you consider the “most versatile” victory casting rod? Im looking at the full contact, but I already have two H rods and don’t know if I need to throw a third in there?

I just had the same thing happen with a Bass X. Did an up grade also. Thought I made out well. Their policy has changed over the years. 10 years ago I had an Avid 6’3” MLXF break on me. Same spot, circumstances the same, while fishing. Basically my fault of high sticking and boat flip of a fish combination. Real quick and inexpensive at that time. The process today took quite a bit longer but I’m happy with the results.

I've got mainly St Croix in my lineup and never had and issue - I'd suspect dissers paid by another brand.

if that's the case SC needs to get to the bottom of it. They are taking a beating on facebook and reddit (also youtube where people show the broken rods and reel seats).

their reputation is taking a hit.

Get a new Levante, then call St Croix for a replacement.

Just got a new victory Marshall for the same price as a replacement mojo bass. It should ship mid-November.

Fished the Marshal on Thursday. I really liked the rod, but needed something more for moving baits (chatter, spinner, lipless, etc…) So, I’m going to get another one. But, not sure what to look at. I know that the mod/mod-fast rods are better for moving baits, but I’m curious what you’d pick of the current victory line?

I actually love the marshall for 3/8-1/2oz spinnerbaits and jigs and underspins and that thing with a flashy swimmer and skinny dipper has done some damage for me this season. For crankbaits and chatterbaits I actually went through a few different lines / models before I landed on a 735cb which I'm also very happy with. I did try the rip n chatter victory model but it was too moderate for me (personal preference and nothing against the rod itself but that thing BENDS). If you want to stick w/ st. croix the legend line is a composite glass / fiber combo and that one honestly looks like it would be money for a crankbait / chatterbait rod and fit my personal taste a bit better for that use case....I also never did try the vtc72mhmf and that one seems like it might also work but once I got the 735cb I pretty much knew I had what I wanted. Either way if you picked up a new marshall off their line for that price and an old mojo I'm happy for you IMHO that's one of the best 'all purpose' rods out there.

I use the 7’2 MHMF for chatter/lipless and it’s awesome for those baits.
