Msl819 Posted January 9 Posted January 9 This rod has caught my attention, but I cannot find much info on the web about it other than the tech specs. Can anyone here give any real world perspective? I assume it does well with bladed jigs, since that is wha *** was built for. What else does it do well? What were you surprised that it did do well? Thanks in advance for your thoughts! Quote
djhands Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Tactical bassin has tons of videos where they say it's one of the only bladed jig rods they use 1 Quote
Super User FishTank Posted January 9 Super User Posted January 9 I have the NRX+ 883c and really like it. I've tried multiple rods over the years and this rod is just fantastic at being a bladed jig rod. It's also my favorite spinnerbait rod. I have also used it for swimjigs and a topwater popper. Worked fine. The tip on it is soft and it loads up quickly on a hookset. It will also cast a mile. Great rod but I hate the hook keeper. Quote
10,000 lakes Bassin Posted January 9 Posted January 9 I’ve been looking at this rod also, in the imx pro line. @FishTank would you still recommend this rod if I was planning to use 30lb braid to a leader for chatterbaits and spinnerbaits? I’ve got nothing wrong with fluoro but I like braid more. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted January 9 Super User Posted January 9 @10,000 lakes Bassin If the tip is as soft as the NRX+, I think you will be fine. Just a personal preference and kind of speaking from experience, I would use regular FC leader material. They are designed to be shock leader to withstand heavy hits. There are several good ones. I like Seaguar Gold Label, Grand Max, Grand Max FX and Daiwa Saltiga Xlink. 1 Quote

If so, how does it compare? I have the 844c and am wondering if they are too similar to justify both. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted January 9 Super User Posted January 9 @Msl819 I haven't tried the 844C in the NRX+ but I have the 904C and the 844C in the old IMX and a previous GLX version. I would say they would do ok with the bladed jigs but the 883C excels at it. The 844C and 904C are more topwater and jig rods to me. They are stiffer and more powerful. To me, there is nothing like the 883C in the NRX+ line. It is one those rods that stands alone from the rest. Its taper is unique. Quote

This would be even better with braid I would think. Quote

Jaybert Posted January 10 Posted January 10 I was going to buy an 845c imx pro crankbait. Would the 883C be similar at all to that ? I was thinking the moderate 845c CBR might double as a bladed jig, swim jig top water rod in addition to cranks. but that 883 BJR does look sweet. Curious how they compare Quote
Maverick2017 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Just got an NRX+873CRR delivered today from Loomis…and now you got me with the 883 BJR in my cart…spinnerbaits are one of my favorite techniques. I’m guessing the sensitivity in feeling the blade thumps is off the charts with the 883? Quote
