Anyone using a 93sv for livescope? Is the screen large enough to use it efficiently or do you wish you had a larger one? 
 

Im deciding between the 93sv and 106sv. The 93 would fit a lot better where I plan to mount it and save a bit of $$, but not sure if I’d regret it and want the 106 later.

 

This unit will be used strictly for displaying livescope. I have a different unit that I use for mapping, DI, and SI.

I’m using a 93 and yes bigger would be better but it’s what I had and works well.

9” will work but honestly I’d get the biggest you can. I run a 12” strictly for livescope 

Bigger is always better, but... Running a 93sv now, upped from my 73sv. If you go 9, make sure to get a newer UHD2 unit, not one of the older UHD units - but the 10" screen is nice 

I fish a helix 9 with mega live in the kayak. It’s enough, but I’m fairly close to the screen. If I’m standing it’s about thigh height, not on the floor. If I’m sitting, it’s an arms length away. 
 

the other thing to consider is that if you zoom out to 100’ and you’re in 25’ of water, that’s not a lot of pixels to represent a fish or a small bait. For me, I stick at 75’ when searching and then pull it to 50’ when casting and working.

It's kind of like selecting a motor in your truck, computer monitor, television for your living room, CPU in a computer build, rifle caliber, etc., etc., etc.

9 inch is fully adequate in a kayak/small boat. I had a 10 inch in my 18 foot bass boat. Did not feel I needed to go larger.

 

The visual acuity on Livescope+ (which is 3rd generation) definitely helps. I wasn’t as impressed with Panoptix or MegaLive and with those you may consider a larger screen.

If you are running the saltwater transducer where 250' is a real possibility then I can totally see where the 22" makes sense.  yes its huge.  yes its expensive.  But if its your job (aka elites) or if you have the money to burn then go for it.  An echomap ultra 2 12" is already $2600.  A GPSMAP 12" is $3600.  Neither includes a transducer. So if you want more than a 12" screen then the NBT is a serious consideration regardless of the size.  

I’m going with the garmin LVS34 and this will be mounted on a kayak.

You’ll be fairly close to the screen in the kayak I think you should be happy with the 9.

Within about an arm’s reach

I use my 73sv with Livescope for ice fishing in the winter, and run it with the GT54 transducer on the kayak in the summer.  It works fine.  I'd upgrade to the 9" if I found one cheap, but they rarely pop up.  Buying new to upgrade would cost way too much.  

 

The one bonus is that it lasts forever on a 32ah NMC battery.

Big jump from a 73sv to a 93sv. Not a big jump from a 93sv to a 106sv. I've had both. I only use the 106sv cause I found a great deal on it last year so I moved my 93sv to my dash. The 93sv is what I learned to read livescope on and it does the job just fine. Another option is getting a telescoping mount and raising it up away from the deck close to you... That will also help you see things better..
