It’s a little overblown when complaints are that they stare at their screen all day and it makes it boring to watch.

Biggest understatement of 2025 right there 😂 😂

  • My electronics are older. I have no sneed to upgrade. I use the to find depth, water temp and structure. If the area looks good, I’ll fish it. I go fishing to fish, not stare at a screen. I can do tha

It depends on many factors.  I don't think you can spend too much time graphing.  I've been known to spend 100% of my time graphing.  I don't catch much but I find lots of places to fish in the future

I do have a couple lakes now I’d call home lakes, but I still use my electronics to find deep weed edges and a couple humps/ledges that usually produce most of my fish.  I’ll also sidescan and watch for interesting things when I’m just working along the shore.  Not really looking at it, but it’s on.

On less familiar lakes, I will idle around and look/do some QuickDraw contour mapping either to find a starting spot or whenever I want a break.  But usually as soon as I see something interesting, I’m fishing it.  I know I could speed up the lake learning process if I spent more time idling, but I like fishing too much. 🙂

Technique dependent.   I use console for running and bow for boat control.   I use it 100% when drop shotting.   Part of the technique - target specific fish.   I only forward scan when I'm looking at structure/cover or searching for bait balls.

They're on 100%, pre-launch except the forward scan I shut off to conserve power.   Also listen to the stereo all day.
