Megabass Karashi Twitch Bait

Featured Replies

That’s a really fair and balanced take. I’ve been eyeing this lure too, but the price point and the fragility are what keep me hesitating. Good to hear it’s fun to fish with, though — sometimes that’s half the reason to tie something on. Might give it a shot if I catch one on sale 🎣

it is a hot bait in its motherland.  my friend bought one last one, and two in the ocean colors.  they were scarce.

I just fished the knock off..it sinks considerably faster than the Karashi.

The action is similar I think..But it feels like more work to achieve similar results. Perhaps because of the faster sinking?

I need to fish some more to get a better feel.

I found it to be awesome for the smaller fish that school up in my home waters, and really good for multispecies ultralight fishing, but I haven't caught any bass larger than 2 lbs on it. The stock hooks are really weak though, so I concur with the previous comments on having a good drag system.

Bought a couple a while ago and finally got to throw one.

Caught a bunch of smaller fish on it, and man the way the fish hit it was really awesome. They were absolutely angry crushing it. Definitely a really fun lure to throw.

Also had a turtle attack it and ended up breaking one of the front hooks getting him off, and I had to bend one of the rear hooks backs into place after a few small fish

New TW color on the Karashi released yesterday looks like a smallmouth killer.

Lets go!  I just broke a hook Sunday and need replacement.

The only place I see people drooling over this thing is Tactical Bass'n and they are just a huge infomercial where companies are paying them to recommend their tackle.

I'm curious what others say though.

I'll pretty much buy anything that will catch fish.  :)

They might have something with TW, but as far as individual tackle companies go, they don't have any sponsorships.  They have affiliations with R2S, DJ and Hog Farmer, but the amount of different tackle companies they suggest is dead giveaway they aren't sponsored.

Landed a beautiful 6+lb largie on the karashi this past weekend - ML spinning rod, 15lb braid to 8lb YZH leader (thanks to Crazy Alberto for the knot). Thought it was a good 3lber until I saw it jump, then she took off peeling drag - I really thought I was gonna lose the fish and the lure. Was also sweating because I knew I'd be collecting about 2+ lbs of weeds on the way in.

But I did it, slow and steady with the drag in the sweet spot. Karashi was pinned in both the roof and corner of the mouth. Both trebles made it through perfectly fine.

Karashi also gave me an awesome session prior to that - caught 15 crappie (good sizes too, best 12.5"), 3 largies, 1 bluegill, and I had 6 more somethings come unbuttoned under the water - in 90 minutes!

Definitely wear safety glasses fishing it - it'll come right back at ya!

(I also just ordered replacement back hooks :))

I bought all the stuff to make my own tail trebles....so far so good!

I was going to tie one on this afternoon, but the wind was blowing pretty good. Wound up leaving it in the package. Mine came direct from Japan, and I’m afraid to lose it!!

Can confirm they handle pike.

But the risk of break off is what scares me when throwing it without leader in pike waters.

clarification.  pike-minnow.  ferocious, but no teeth.

I've never heard of it so I did a quick Google search.

Do they have a bad reputation out there?

Looks like they like to eat salmon/trout eggs?

Same here!

I thought Northern Pike.

Well, y'all convinced me to pick up a couple.

15 lb braid to 10 lb fluoro on a ML spinning rod sound about right?

Has your opinion changed at all on these since you got them?

I know a couple places I could take this and absolutely slaughter some smaller bass.

I'm sure it would be a blast.

Just not sure I want to spend that kind of money on them at this point.

Same, really. Fun bait. But expensive. Fished it today.

Worth trying at least once if you can stomach the cost. Or try the knockoffs.
