Best Tournament Rod Lineups

Featured Replies

Hey everyone, I’m looking for the best mid-priced bass rod lineup for tournaments. At the end of the year I’m planning to sell all the odds and ends of my fishing rods/reels. I’ve done a ton of research on Rod lineups but it seems that I can’t find one that matches my needs. Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions, I’ve looked at brands such as Dobyns, level rods, Fitzgerald rods, and daiwa rods. Ps I am not a fan of Shimano and st Croix cause of bad experiences with their products.

Have you looked at Douglas? I've used their rods-foshing Erie with a guide and was very impressed.

well there goes suggesting the Victory line up from St Croix.    Seems like the best bang for your buck.   Too bad you had a bad experience.

maybe the tatula elite line might fill the needs you’re requesting?  Seems they have tons of rods for lots of different stuff.   Evergreen combat sticks are a good one too.

id also like to suggest the 13 Fishing Myth line up.   Just got one and it’s really awesome and impressive.   Going back for more.

What do you call mid-priced?  If a $30 walmart special is the bottom end of the market and a Loomis NRX at $999 is the top, that would put the middle at $500 which I think most would consider still pretty high end.

On that basis, I'm going to assume that $250-$300 bracket and suggest the Falcon Cara lineup.  There is a rod for everything in the lineup and that's what's on Jason Christie's deck for every tournament so...

One brand?

If I did tournaments I’d go in with my mish-mash of rod combos.  I’d put Daiwa reels on Shimano rods.  Just show up in cutoff shorts and a hoodie.

I’m not sure how I’d categorize “tournament-rods”.   All matching stuff?

I happen to really like both St Croix and Shimano.

So I could only feel comfortable reccomending them.

ST Croix Legend Tournament Sticks

And Shimano Bantum MGL A Casting reels.

Done.

Good Luck

Falcon is my recommendation as they are light, sensitive and durable.  They offer a rod for nearly any application at multiple price points.

Dobyns is also a good option.  They have endless price points and models to fit everything imaginable.

Hammer is an other nice rod but offer fewer options although it seems they have enough to cover most bass fishing needs.  They are very nice for the price.

I looked into falcon rods and they seem like a good option, thanks for sharing.

Honestly if you're looking to get into tournament fishing these days with FFS I'd buy 3 or 4 decent spinning rods.

The Tatula elite would be a good choice.

I don’t know of any mainstream rod manufacturer who doesn’t carry a full lineup in almost every price range.
Most will have the most choices in their “mid priced” range.

I’ve been tournament fishing for a long while now with a variety of both rods and reels from different places which fill holes power and action wise that one just couldn’t do.
