Can you buy a smaller ball to make the app think the fish is bigger?

I'm sure you could - or just hold the ball back further...but why would anyone do that?

They'd only be fooling themselves.

So you could tell your friends "The app said it was a 40 pound bass..and it was using AI so it has to be right". 😆

I spoke to my brother in NC this evening, and as our conversations always do we talked about our recent fishing experiences.  As it turns out, his son recently purchased one of these and loves it.  He has double checked a number of smallmouth catches, and is impressed with the Proof Ball’s accuracy.  He’s an engineer so measurements are pretty sacred to him.  I rarely order anything on a whim, but @Further North’s post intrigued me and I ordered one yesterday.  I admit that my nephew’s review did erase a fear that it might be a novelty item or gimmick.  I’m looking forward to using it.

This wouldn’t be my only way to weigh fish in a tournament. It would be useless if you didn’t have an internet connection’s

You can collect photos and use the app to measure when you have cell service.

When you fish a tournament, you can only have a legal limit in your live well. If you have a limit and catch another fish, you can’t keep it until you find cell service. You have to know which fish to release right away. This is the wrong choice as the only device to carry to weigh your fish. YMMV

Yes, MMV considerably.

I don't fish tournaments...and as I've already commented, I don't weigh my fish...and I plugged my live well the day I bought my boat 11 years ago and I use it for storage.

...but I'll offer the thought that with a device and app like this there would be no need for any fish to be kept in a live well.
