So there not bass their rock bass but what do yall use for them

Beetle spin, mepps, 1/16 oz crappie jig and bobby garland minnow, tiny square bill or tiny floating jerkbait, micro popper, fly. Use a ultralight and 4-6 lb mono.

Agree with Pat's suggestions. I'd also say little Ned Rig lures like mini craws and the like.

You’re actually trying to specifically target rock bass?

This can’t be reality.

At least you can admit that they aren’t bass.

Yeah. I can't imagine targeting them. I'd prefer a rock bass to getting skunked, but I'm never trying to catch them.

I don't go out with the intention to target them... but if I run into a mess of them I'll work them a few minutes. They like Ned rigs and small worms like the Zoom finesse, curly tail grubs, and smaller crankbaits. They don't know they ain't a real bass.

I fish 'em in large bodies of waters, too. Might surprise you. No shame in catching a Rock Bass from a clean creek. Done right makes good table fare.

When we are in the mood for fish to eat, we target a few rockies. They taste great! While smallmouth fishing, rockbass hit nearly everything we are throwing at the smallies. No need to go very small with baits like you might do for bluegills, but Ned rigs, 3-4 inch senkos, spinners, smaller crankbaits or topwater poppers all will work.

Rock Bass are fun.  Savage little rascals; if they got to a decent size, they'd be among our favorite fish.

If it were me, I'd throw flies at them.
