New state record Muskie in Wisconsin

I just heard on my local sports station a new state record musky was caught verified and released measuring 56” with a 25” girth. It was also reported it was a stocked fish from the Wisconsin DNR. My apologies if this has already been posted and I just didn’t see it.IMG_5201.png.ad21588bbb91f0c76eed6cc578f5e0e5.png

That's bigger than the claimed world record from the Chippewa Flowage?

it's some kind of catch and released record.

@FryDog62 The article just says Green Bay in Door County.

Some states have traditional weight records and some states have added a length C & R record. I believe Wisconsin is one of those states. Minnesota is too. You have to kill the fish to receive traditional weight certification which is why some states have added this length classification.

Once the catch is certified, the body of water and nearest town/city will be made public. Not a big deal at a place like Green Bay. On a smaller body of water, I’d never do it. That spot would be decimated by pressure in a week.

Really curious how big it was when they stocked her.

Although I don’t know how big the fingerlings the Wisconsin DNR stocks it’s my understanding from what I heard is they knew it was stocked due to the clipped fin.
