St croix glass vs expride glass

Featured Replies

I’m currently deciding between getting the st croix legend glass 7”4, or the expride b glass 7”2. The st croix rod is easier to get and a little less expensive, but the expride seems better balanced. This would be a dedicated all crankbait setup, and I know most people use that expride model for chatterbaits, so I’m not sure how it would compare to the st croix with crankbaits

I owned the 7’ spinning model.. they are d**n fine rods but unfortunately I just couldn’t warm up to using it w spinning..

If it were casting, oh yea it would have been sweet. I use an Evergreen/Daiwa Glass/Carbon rod for all that work now.. plus an IMX 847

Not a fan of my 72 mhg expride for crank baits...just feels too spongey for cranking... Love it for bladed jig duty only.... I was looking the at Croix glass rods b4... But they sure are thick.. Didn't like the broomstick feel of them.... I prefer dobyns cb rods or megabass p5 javelin for my cranking setups...

I am also trying to decide on weather to get a graphite or glass rod. I’m looking for an all around rod, something that will hopefully cover all of the vast majority of my crankbaits

I have the Legend Glass 7'2'' M and really like it. It is a little heavier than your normal graphite rod but loads well and cast a mile. The best thing about it is that keeps fish pinned.  I have thrown crankbaits from 3/8oz up to 3/4. I have it paired with an old 2012 Anteras. It will bomb a 1/2oz square bill.

I’m a fan of the St. Croix LTB hybrid glass rods. I have the 7’2” HM “Rip N Chatter” and love it. They have some other crankbait models too. Doesn’t feel any heavier than my regular graphite LTBs. I can’t stand the weight of true glass rods and I love the action of the hybrid glass ones

I haven't tried an Expired glass, but I had a couple Legend Glass. Wanted to give them a chance and try to like them, but I just couldn't. I traded one off towards something else and the other, a 6'10" Medium is sitting on the consignment rack at a local shop right now

Just not a fan!
