dobyns fury fr 705cb

That's the rod I'm getting.

I need help on a reel now I was going to get the Lew's super duty 300(?) I think that's the name of it. I want to throw 1/4-3/4oz cranks. What is a good reel and a good gear ratio for those criteria?

And again thank you in advance. Y'all are super helpful to novice anglers

Slx mgl 70, 6 or 7 speed, 10lb fluoro. The super duty 300 is a heavy swimbait reel, not ideal for that rod or intended technique.

It appears the Lews is a bit over a $200.00 reel which is a bit higher than I’d spend but I’m happy to give you a recommendation of the Daiwa Tatula Elite and if that’s a little higher than you’re looking to spend you can grab the Tatula 150, both will get you plenty of line capacity for your needs. Full disclosure I don’t own either reel but I do have enough Daiwa reels that I can comfortably say they’re braking systems are the easiest to use and perform well along with being really well built in my opinion. Best of luck in your search and make sure to share a photo of the combo.

The super duty is way overkill for what you want to throw and will not cast them well.  You need something lighter and smaller.

If you want to spend roughly the same amount of money, a JDM zillion is $230 right now and would be an incredible crankbait reel.

I have a Daiwa Tatula 100H on my 705CB.

I switched out my 705CB for a Victory 7'2" MH/M but I'm still using the same reel. Pfleuger Supreme XT 6.4

I too have a Tatula 100HSL that has been on a few different rods and every time I think dang I have to upgrade this reel I just grab that combo as a “one last time” before I upgrade and every time I come home and think nope not doing it, although I’ve done the same with my Tatula CT 100 also so I guess I’m just a sucker for my Tatulas.

I have a Shimano Curado 150 MGL paired on my Fury 705CB. The SLX 70A is also a fantastic suggestion.

The Shimano SLX XTA 150 w/6.3:1 has the extra line capacity needed when casting and retrieving medium diving crank baits. You want a lower gear ratio for larger deep divers. Big Game 10 or 12 lb is ideal.

I've got a tatula 100 on my 5 power dobyns crankbait rod...a few others I might consider would be the new tatula x, lews tournament pro lfs, shimano slx xta or maybe the abu revo sx lp. That said I'm pretty happy with the tatula 100. Would suggest something in the 6.1-7.1 range for the gear ratio.

@LokiDawg I’m not saying to react/buy but I do feel I have to share as a fellow fisherman if this is really legit😬IMG_5297.png.ef0f5a73bb179b8bcbec80ad7304dc00.png

Again although I don’t own this particular reel I think you’re going to be happy with your decision. Again please post a picture and after some use let us know what you think of the combination.
