Daiwa 2026 😒

Sad to hear Daiwa reels are going up again in price. I currently have a tatula sv tw 150 that I love and use as my main workhorse, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, jigs, small swimbaits, even weightless senkos. I use it so much I was looking to get a second identical set up so I’m not cutting and retying so often, or rather so I make the switch in baits because it’s tied on already. Any insight on the tatula sv tw 150 va the tatula elite? 7.3:1 vs 7.1:1 comparable IPT (30.7 vs 29.8), both are 7+1 bearings, both are sv(?) and tw, 150 rated 130yds 14lb mono, elite is rated 125yds so negligible.

Β

anyone have experience with both? Looking for what makes the elite worth $30 more, hoping to buy before 1/1 to avoid price hike!

Β

thanks all!

The Elite doesn’t have a SV spool and casts a little further than the Tat SV

Makes me wonder if I should order 1 more Tatula and that Zillion I was eying right now. Β  Yeah..... this thread just cost me $540.

  • maybe start a Shimano 2026 thread Β  And while you're there, write a simple why and how to set up Shimano casting brake.Β Β

Β True, you can get it cheaper in Japan,Β

What you get: A made in Japan reel. No warranty. You get an Alloy main gear, unless you order the JDM 1000HD Zillion with a brass main gear and Stainless pinion. Plus it’s Mag Z boost. I think that even the 21 Zil or 22 (non HD model) alloy gear model comes with a stainless pinion but I’m gonna call backup on that. @bulldog1935

USDM Zillion G SV already comes with brass hyperdrive digigear w stainless pinion and warranty, made in ThailandΒ

Β

There is no HD β€œblack” 1000HD per se.. available in the USDM.Β

@FLYING HIGH

There is also Daiwa China that has many of the same products as Daiwa US such as the Zillion G and Tatula Elites as well as unique products like the Fuego SV and all the Salamandura reels.Β  The Daiwa China MSRP matches that of th3 Daiwa US reels but the street price is much lower.Β Β

Β

Like the Daiwa Japan products, there is no Daiwa US warranty but I don't find fishing reels to be difficult things to fix or tinker with so I don't mind.Β

Woah! The steez a II reel went from $650 to $750! Sheesh! The steez AGS rod went from $669.99 to $599.99 so not quite as cheap as they used to be but definitely more reasonable! The steez AGS rod used to be $549.99.Β
Β

Edit to add: it appears JDM prices are unaffected as of right now, so that’s a big sigh of relief!Β
