I think a big misconception is that these are a one-bite-per-day kind of baits. That’s not true at all. Especially once you start to figure them out. Another misconception is that you’re only catching

All told, between my brother and me, we have an obscene amount of swimbaits. A wall full, with many duplicates. I blew up my shoulder in '22. Rehab'd it successfully but I rarely throw anything above

I don't have any real magnum baits anymore, mostly because I've found that the 6-7 inch range baits seem to be the sweet spot for what I like to fish and what our fish eat best. When I first got int

You probably have the baby. It's like 4.5oz. The adult is a boat anchor at almost 8oz and 16" long with the tail.

If we had better pike fisheries I'd be tempted to grab one but would probably need the 908 Dobyns to throw it.

Ya the full size is 7.5oz with an 8” body. The baby is 6” body. 908 throws it perfect. Def a big rat but nothing even close to the original Rago sewer rat haha. That one was 18” and 13oz

Clayton,

What's your rod and reel setup here?

Anyone try the Savage Gear Scandal yet? Not much of a glide guy myself but the tail design with the stabilizer fins is interesting.

That entire setup is DC'd. It's a 7' 5" Okuma EVX casting rod with a 7.3:1 Okuma Helios SX reel. It's basically a jig rod/reel but it's not super stiff because they designed the rod to fish chatterbaits and small swimbaits. It fished that 5" bull shad really well and that bait doesn't really require a heavy swimbait setup. That's the same combo I use for hollow body swimbaits and any in the 3/4-1.5 ounce range.

Right on, thanks! I've got a rod coming that I think would work great for something like this. Appreciate the response

I quit musky fishing because of the wear and tear on my body. I remember just laying my rod on the gunnels and taking a break because it hurt to cast. So, no, I don't feel the pull. I did buy one bluegill swimbait that @PhishLI suggested and it's caught some bass, but it's small compared to what some of you throw.
