NE BLIZZARD 2026

Featured Replies

Southeastern New England, especially Rhode Island/Mass.

As of 1 P.M., Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport recorded 32.8 inches smashing the famed Blizzard of '78 which was 28.6 inches.

T.F. Green Airport is the area of official weather records.

As of this writing, snow is still coming down.

Travel bans are in effect until further notice, National Guard units deployed, emergency vehicles needing heavy equipment to plow ahead of them to respond.

I don't think the mail is coming today ;)

I figure we got 2' on the coast just south of Boston. My mother got SMASHED in Hanover. Good thing is that water levels will be back up when it melts ...

Just finished up shoveling out, 18" here in North Jersey.

I said after the last storm it's time to get a snow blower, getting too old for this. The plan was to wait till summer as I figured we were pretty much done with snow. Ha! now we get the biggest storm in a dozen years.

Even though it is only about 8" deep, it is heavier than any snow we've had since we lived here. It is like wet sand...

That sounds like the "Sierra cement" we get out here. Crazy how much a shovel full of it weighs vs when it's powder.

Southeastern Mass got hit hard. Some area weather spotters reporting 36-40" of snow. Seen a news station helicopter flying around.

I'm taking a break now, and still digging my way out.

Tell me about it ... this REAL winter stuff is really cutting into my fishing ! I can only organize and reorganize my gear so many times. I rebuilt my Yammy's water pump today. That kept me busy for a couple hours.

Well, the snow seems to be forecasting lower and lower now so I’m going to count that as a short term win. The snow is cleared and down to the bare pavers from today’s sun. I have to get a new blower for sure, so scoping that out, but thankfully it doesn’t have to happen this week. Heck, maybe I’ll get lucky and not need it this whole winter.

I can send you mine to help keep you busy

It's easy as pie, at least for the Yammy. I'm sure it's comparable if you have a Merc. Why don't you come around mid April and plan on fishing NH with me.

I have a 50hp Yomommaha. I’ll be finding out how easy it is this spring.

Thanks for the offer but it’s a bit of a hike from Michigan. Maybe when life slows down.
