G. Loomis IMX Pro 893C JWR

Featured Replies

Never used an IMX pro or even a Loomis for that matter. What are the thoughts on the 893C JWR in the IMX pro line and what does it excel at?

1/8-5/16 plus plastic trigs and very light trailers on 3/8th jigs. Tips light and overall the 893 I had was fun to fish but had too much overlap with other rods.

I have the NRX version and for many years that was one of the "must have" rods out there. Super versatile for things 1/4-3/8 oz and I imagine the IMX Pro would be very similar. Still one of my favorite rods.

… and what would be a good reel to compliment such a versatile rod?

Colored SLP Zillion when they drop, and a normal one if you don’t want to wait. Or anything with hyperdrive gearing would be good.

The 893 is a great spinnerbait rod. The imx-pro spinnerbait model (812c) is an XF rod like the 893.

Well good thing I already have a few ‘21 zillions kicking around and a lonely ‘20 metanium.

How would the tatula elite AGS 7’5 MH fast rod compare to this IMX pro?

Are they both on different levels? Aside from price tag?

The '26 IMX-PRO is so new I don't know of anyone that has one.

Have a Met on mine and certainly can't complain about that combo 😆

893C was originally marketed as the senko rod. Tatula elite 75mh is similar to the 89C but slightly softer and bends a lil deeper. Johnston brothers fished loomis prior to signing with Daiwa, i remember reading somewhere 893C was one of their favorites.

The 893 has always been a standout in the NRX line for me even though I've never been a big fan of the 89 inch models. Personally, I wouldn't spend that kind of money on an IMX.

I think the AGS would be a better buy.

Store ended up messing up my order so ended up with the tatula elite AGS rod. Was already on clearance plus an additional 20% off and $20 shipping (instead of $40). In the end it cost $195 less than the IMX Pro. I couldn’t drive to the store and back for less than $20 gas in a Jeep wrangler lol
